In an ideal location within the village of Flamborough with plenty of amenities within walking distance. Explore the surrounding areas including the coast and country, historic landmarks, towns and villages.

Situated in the small village of Flamborough on the Yorkshire coast, this charming cottage is the ideal place for friends and families to escape it all and spend quality time together. If you’re keen walkers, the wild and rugged Yorkshire coast path is on your doorstep with far-reaching sea views. The bay is also popular with experienced water sport enthusiasts who can explore the coast by canoe. Flamborough Headland Heritage Coast has a picturesque nature reserve, which is popular with wildlife enthusiasts and birdwatchers, and two historic lighthouses that are steeped in interest. Despite the close proximity to the coast, you are only a few hundred metres from the shops and pubs within the village, so you don’t need to travel far if you don’t want to. If you’re happy to travel, however, there are plenty of gems both along the coast and inland to discover.

Sympathetically-renovated, this property has a wonderful blend of original features, contemporary decor and traditional country-cottage charm. It feels welcoming and homely, making it the ideal place for you all to relax.

On entering, follow the hallway into the lounge/diner, where a wood burner adds comfort, creating the ideal space to snuggle up of an evening. There is plenty of space around the dining table for everyone, whether you’re eating, planning your day or sharing a board game. Heading through into the kitchen, you’ll see it is compact, yet well-equipped with everything you’ll need to cater for you and your guests. The contemporary units allow light to bounce off them, making it feel bright and sunny. For wet-weather or beach gear, there is a convenient utility room.

Up the steep cottage-style stairs, you’ll find two delightful bedrooms. One is a double and the other is a super-king-size zip-and-link (which can be made up as a twin on request). Completing this floor is a family bathroom with roll-top bath and separate shower. Up another flight of steep stairs is the light and airy king-size master bedroom.

Outside, the courtyard with patio area and lawn is a great spot to relax with a coffee and enjoy the rural views. There is also lockable storage for bikes/canoes. Roadside parking is subject to availability.

Much like its Cornish counterpart, the North Yorkshire coastline is a heady mix of rugged cliff tops, peaceful bays and pretty fishing villages. With long sandy beaches and all the traditional seaside trimmings of yesteryear, this is proper bucket and spade territory. That's not to say it's stuck in the past, in fact, the coast's villages and towns combine the traditional with the contemporary effortlessly, with trinket shops and tea rooms sitting alongside upmarket champagne and oyster bars.

The seaside town of Filey is only 12 miles away and sits at the northern end of a long, sandy beach which is ideal for enjoying special moments with loved ones, whatever the weather. It is a little off the beaten track, so is perfect for those looking to escape the crowds and relax at their own pace. Amongst its Edwardian architecture, you’ll find a range of independent shops and eateries and a museum, whilst Filey Brigg, a peninsula at the northern end of the town, is a great place for birdwatching.

Further afield, yet more treasures can be discovered in the popular resorts of Scarborough (19 miles) and Bridlington (5 miles), both of which combine time-honoured tradition with amenities to suit the modern visitor. Scarborough is particularly steeped in history, so make your way through the historic streets to explore Scarborough Castle or pop into St Mary's churchyard to visit Anne Bronte's grave. Enjoy a stroll around the South Cliff area taking in the famous spa and Italian Gardens. Catch the cliff lift down to the beach and walk around to the peaceful North Bay, visit the renowned Sea Life Centre or explore the beautiful Peasholm Park with its boating lake, woodland walks and oriental influences. The old railway line which ran from Scarborough to Whitby is now a stunning cycle and walking route and is the perfect choice if you feel like a coastal walk, taking in some spectacular scenery on the way.

A comfortable and well equipped cottage in a convenient location within walking distance to a number of good dog friendly pubs. The garden was enclosed and also suited our dog. The only downside is that the stairs are steep as advertised and parking is on the road although we had no problems with either and would book again if we were in the area.
