This exquisite one-bedroom holiday cottage is set at the heart of Middleham, offering a mature and sophisticated style throughout this property is a superb choice for a romantic break.

This exquisite one-bedroom holiday cottage is situated in the heart of Middleham, one of the prettiest towns in the Yorkshire Dales. Perfect for two, this romantic abode boasts an elegant, sophisticated style and offers picturesque walks, as well as a great selection of cafes, pubs and restaurants from the doorstep.

We just love this bijou stone-built cottage with its chic decor and well thought out spaces. Step into the handsome porch, take off your boots and rest a while; the little window seat in here is the best seat in the house for spotting the racehorses trotting up the village en-route to the gallops.

Make your way into the open-plan living space, home to the lounge, kitchen and dining area. Classic style blends with contemporary comfort in here and underfloor heating is a welcome addition. It manages to feel comfortable, stylish and cosy all at once. Pop open a bottle of something chilled, grab a good book and settle down on the sofa for an afternoon of sheer bliss. An electric fire with a wood burner effect keeps everything nice and toasty. There's a Smart TV with DVD if you want to bring some of your favourite movies and Wi-Fi is available too.

The compact, yet perfectly formed kitchen comes equipped with everything you'll need. There are an electric oven and ceramic hob, fridge and microwave for your convenience. There is also a small freezer under the stairs - well you'll need ice for your cocktails! Rustle up a romantic dinner and settle at the quaint dining table.

Time for bed, head up the charming bespoke wooden staircase to the gorgeous bedroom. The style up here echoes the same traditional but well-heeled look. Stretch out on the bed and enjoy a birds-eye view of the village outside. This peaceful and elegant room is a joy to wake up in each morning, hidden away from the hustle bustle of real life. Next door, you'll find the bathroom featuring a generous walk-shower and WC. Deep windowsills remind you of the history in this cottage.

To the front of the cottage is a pleasant and well-maintained courtyard garden. It's a heavenly spot for lunch alfresco in the warmer months and the perfect place to catch the comings and goings of Yorkshire village life. If you feel like a walk, you can head out from the door - there is a myriad of trails in every direction.

  • Bedroom: 1 double

The cottage is set in the heart of Middleham village in Wensleydale, one of Yorkshire's loveliest towns. Famous for its castle (once home to Richard III) it's also home to several racehorse trainers; you will see and hear the horses being led through the village up to the gallops every day. And to top it off, there is a great collection of pubs, cafes, restaurants and shops.

A friendly tearoom is nearby the cottage if you fancy a treat at elevenses, and for dinner, you can opt for pub grub at one of the local inns. There's also a village store and a couple of bric-a-brac shops to mooch around. Just 2.5 miles out of the village is the fantastic attraction, The Forbidden Corner. Regularly voted the best family attraction in Yorkshire, it's also well worth a look even if there are no children in your party.

In the opposite direction, you'll find the charming market town of Leyburn (2 miles), with its traditional shops, pubs and cafes all gathered around the handsome town square. As well as a busy market every Friday, the town is also home to the biggest auction centre outside of London. The nearby historic town of Richmond (11.5 miles) is another great option for a day out with its scenic setting along the River Swale.

There are a wealth of other pretty villages and stunning natural sights all within close range of the cottage including Aysgarth Falls and Bolton Castle, both under 9 miles away. If walking is your thing, the surrounding Yorkshire Dales are something of a walker's paradise. And there are plenty of options for cycling too in Tour De France country with a variety of excellent gastropubs to enjoy a well-earned pit-stop along the way.
