This chic and contemporary holiday home is the perfect bolthole from which to explore picturesque York and its surrounding countryside.

Enjoy a relaxing break in this stunning two-bedroom luxury holiday home which looks directly out onto the historic city walls in central York. This beautiful property is the ultimate city pad for those looking for boutique hotel quality with all the benefits of self-catering thrown in. Unusually for York, there's a lovely outside space to enjoy, and with off-road parking outside and all the delights of the city under a 5-minute stroll away, this property is pretty much perfect.

Set in a quiet courtyard in the heart of the city centre, the house is a sophisticated and elegant holiday home which feels luxurious at every turn. On the ground floor, you'll find a bright and spacious open-plan living area home to the lounge, dining space and kitchen. Everything in this stylish property shouts quality, from the warm Karndean wooden-style floors to the contemporary and comfortable furniture.

The lounge features a generous L-shaped sofa which is perfect for stretching out on after a busy day sightseeing in the city. There's a large TV on the wall, so it's the perfect place to snuggle up and enjoy some chill time. Wi-Fi is provided too.

The modern bespoke kitchen is very pleasing to the eye; gorgeous units and a chunky wooden work-top create a calm and peaceful look. There are a washing machine, a tumble dryer and a dishwasher. The cupboards are well-stocked with all the equipment you'll need to cook up a storm. The dining table and chairs sit next to the lounge, a nice spot for breakfast and lunch whilst you plan which of York's famous attractions to visit that day. Downstairs also has a handy WC.

The bedrooms in the house are set over the first and second floors and each has access to their own exclusive bathroom facilities. The first of which is a large master bedroom; a beautiful room which boasts a super king-size bed, which can also be set up as two singles (this will need to be requested at the time of booking), exquisite bed linen and contemporary oak furniture. A spacious shower room sits next door on this floor. Up to the second floor to discover another lovely bedroom, this time with a king-size bed. Both beds feature top of the range handcrafted natural fibre mattresses with breathable layers of wool and luxury cashmere. This floor also features a dressing room and a second bathroom complete with a bath and double-headed shower overhead. You can see the York Minster from this bathroom window, a little reminder of your historic setting.

Outside to the rear of the house, is a pleasant sheltered patio garden which enjoys uninterrupted views of the city walls, a real luxury in York. Patio furniture is provided so you can enjoy a long lazy lunch alfresco here. Indulge with a glass of something fizzy while you admire the historic city walls just feet away. One of the charming things about the house is that York Minster and The Shambles are less than 5 minutes' walk, however, the location is idyllic, tucked away down a peaceful courtyard - the perfect retreat from the city. Unusually for York, there is also a dedicated off-road parking space for one car right outside the house.

  • 2 bedrooms - 1 super king-size (which can be set up as two singles on request) and 1 king-size
  • 1 en-suite shower room and 1 bathroom with overhead double shower
  • Oven, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, and dishwasher
  • Smart TV
  • Wi-Fi included
  • Off-road parking for 1 car
  • Regret no pets
  • Garden
  • Pub and shop within 1 mile

The jewel in North Yorkshire's crown, we think York is one of the best short break destinations in England. But don't just take our word for it. Voted 'Best UK City' by the Telegraph's travel section in 2008, York is a favourite amongst even the most seasoned of travellers. York topped the Bing 2011 survey as Britain's 'Most Beautiful City', and in Lonely Planet's 2014 Best List, Yorkshire was described as the ‘best place in Europe’ and ‘third best in the world’, to visit.

This ancient walled city has been the north's spiritual capital for 2000 years, but that's not to say it is stuck in the past; York's affluent population and its influx of tourist pounds has helped to create a cultural and commercial oasis. History seeps out of every cobbled street, but the crooked old buildings house a fantastic range of contemporary designer shops, cafes, restaurants and bars.

Everywhere in York is easily reachable by foot as this small but perfectly formed city houses most of its main attractions within the city walls. As this property is right on the walls, you don't have far to go to reach all of its many attractions, in fact, it's less than 5 minutes' walk to the Shambles. Middle Ages' town planning means it can take quite some time to get your bearings but finding your way around the labyrinth of warped streets is part of the fun.

If you are looking for outside space in which to relax, you have the choice of a number of parks and gardens, including Dean's Park just around the corner next to the Minster, the Yorkshire Museum Gardens and next to the River Ouse, and slightly further afield, Rowntree Park with its children's playground, tennis courts and bowling green.

A perfect bolt hole 5 mins walk from the Minster & the shops. A bonus is that now there are 2 parking places which make it easier as residents tend to park on the road opposite the driveway & if you have a big car it can be a struggle

We've now stayed at Pear Tree Cottage twice, this property is outstanding in every way. Beautifully clean, very well equipped, extremely comfortable beds, parking right outside the front door, welcome pack & excellently situated in the centre of York. Absolutely first class.

Great location, great family time in York. We had all we needed and were entirely comfortable. Showers in particular were great, and could have cooked anything as kitchen well equipped. For somewhere so central, 5 mins top to the centre, it was also quiet. Top holiday, thank you.

Absolutely outstanding. This was our fourth visit. The property is always spotlessly clean and the location could hardly be more convenient.

The best holiday let we have been on EVER. We have been to numerous, supposedly 5* lets, and this one beats them out of the water. Would highly recommend this unique property.

The cottage is in a perfect location with walking distance to all the tourist attractions and to the shops and restaurants. The cottage has everything you need and is very comfortable.

We did come to the same place last year, and hopefully will be coming again next year. Very clean, excellent location, high standard of accommodation. The owner is very helpful, especially in ringing us to advise of road works taking place outside, and giving alternative access details.
