This fabulous five-bedroom period townhouse is located in the heart of an attractive North York Moors village. It is the perfect large luxury cottage in Yorkshire for families and groups of friends. And in 2014, the cottage was awarded the Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence for consistently excellent reviews.

This historical building actually dates back to 1793 when it was used as a Saddlers. Many of the original features have been restored including wonderful oak beams from Whitby ships and a huge inglenook fireplace in the dining room. The decor and furnishings throughout are contemporary but the inherent character of the house remains.

The accommodation is set across three floors. Downstairs you'll find an open-plan kitchen and dining area with a cosy wood burner in the fireplace, perfect for the colder months. There is a generous lounge complete with all of the creature comforts you would expect including a large TV with Firestick. The house also includes an MP3 docking station, Nintendo Wii, a PS3 for the kids (or the grown-ups!) for the guest's use.

There are three bedrooms (super king, king & double)  and a family bathroom on the first floor. The second floor has a further two bedrooms (a king and a double both with additional single bed) and a shower room with separate WC.

There is a charming patio area to the rear of the cottage which includes patio furniture. The front of the property faces the Main Street in Pickering and is a delightful spot to watch the world go by.

The cottage has a fantastic location in the heart of Pickering, a beautiful North York Moors village. Grand Georgian architecture stands alongside cosy traditional cottages to create a picture-postcard location. There are several excellent restaurants, pubs and cafes in the village, all under a 5-minute walk from the cottage. The wonderful North York Moors Railway starts in Pickering (the station itself is just a few hundred yards away) where you can catch a steam train to Whitby and back again through some of the most picturesque countryside in Yorkshire.

Beyond the village lies the awe-inspiring North York Moors, a landscape of gently rolling hills of heather, ancient woodland and lazy rivers winding through lush green valleys. If you want to get away from it all, take a trip to the top of the high central moorlands which is also a great option if walking is your thing.

In addition to Pickering, there are many well-heeled towns and villages dotted about the Moors, where honey-coloured sandstone buildings lend warm contrast to the deep purple and green of the surrounding hills. The beautiful market town of Helmsley is 13 miles away and is well worth a visit. If you fancy a little pampering, you'll find a fantastic day spa here; the Verbena Spa. Perfect for a little me time indulgence.

The charming town of Kirkbymoorside is 7.5 miles away with its treasure trove of art and antique shops, tearooms, Ryedale Folk Museum and a great market on Wednesdays. You're also close to Castle Howard and York (both 26.5 miles) and the North Yorkshire coast, so lots of choice for day trips.
