Nestling down one of Whitby's famous yards, this historic Grade II listed Sea Captain's house has been transformed into a boutique two-bedroom luxury apartment. With a stunning view of Whitby Abbey and a central location, this is one of the most unique and stylish holiday homes on the Yorkshire coast. Just perfect for couples escaping to the seaside for the weekend, or small families looking for a relaxing coastal holiday where you can leave the car behind.

Set over three floors, the elegant interiors are the work of acclaimed Yorkshire-based interior designer Rachel Mclane. Expect soft classic colours, a country-chic style and great use of space throughout. The apartment has been designed to maximise that amazing view of St Hilda's Abbey across the Whitby rooftops, so the main living area is on the second floor. This charming open-plan space features a comfortable lounge area with two Georgian windows looking out across Whitby. When you can draw your eyes away from the view, there's a TV to keep you entertained. The lounge leads on to the cosy cottage-style kitchen. It's compact but functional with an oven, hob, fridge/freezer and dishwasher available. There is also a Nespresso coffee maker in here.

The master bedroom of this luxury apartment in Whitby is on the floor below; a beautiful double room with a real country hotel ambience. Soft tartan on the carpets and on the bed throws, combined with classical elegant furniture give the room a peaceful and contemporary vibe. It's the perfect place to retreat to with a good book after a busy morning exploring Whitby's many shops and cafes. This bedroom sits right next door to the family bathroom which boasts a large walk-in shower with a monsoon shower head and his and her sinks.

The second bedroom is a cosy twin room. Set in the eaves of the building on the top floor, it has bags of character with its sumptuous and quirky furnishings. There's also a small en-suite WC up here too.

The apartment is set within Whitby's conservation precinct. There isn't any outside space, however, the beach is under a 5-minute walk, as are Whitby's famous cobbled streets packed with bars, cafes and restaurants. If you love having everything on your doorstep, this stylish apartment is just the spot.

Whitby's narrow twisting yards evolved over a thousand years ago to provide protection from Viking raiders, and to help Whitby's smugglers evade the Government revenue men and tax collectors. They're a unique and much-loved urban design to this part of the world. You'll find the apartment tucked away down one such authentic and historic Whitby Yard.

Be prepared as you walk under the arched alleyway into the Rose and Crown Yard to gain a real sense of the authentic maritime history of this ancient sea town. It is one of the oldest, narrowest and twisting of Whitby's gothic yards, a total contrast to the bright, contemporary accommodation inside. The apartment has that essential ""wow"" factor to make your holiday a delight. And it is just a short stroll from the centre of town. It's a fantastic location for those of us who love having everything within easy reach - shopping, pubs, restaurants, the beach, Abbey and harbour are all just a 5-minute walk away.

Probably the most visited and much-loved of Yorkshire's seaside resorts, Whitby is an idyllic location for a holiday. With its seaside heritage, excellent restaurants, independent shops and host of bars and cafes along its medieval streets, it has so much to offer the discerning holidaymaker. Playing host at one time to Romans, Saxons, Celts and Danes amongst others, the town's rich heritage is immediately obvious. Straddling the River Esk and dominated by the 13th century ruins of St Hilda's Abbey on the East Cliff, Whitby's crooked cobbled streets and picturesque harbour have been a magnet for artists and tourists alike for centuries. Providing the backdrop for some of Lewis Carroll's work, it was also famously the inspiration for Bram Stoker's Dracula.

Whitby is set on the beautiful North Yorkshire coastline; a heady mix of rugged cliff tops, peaceful bays and pretty fishing villages. With long sandy beaches and all the traditional seaside trimmings of yesteryear, you can indulge in a classic English seaside holiday. That's not to say it's stuck in the past, in fact, the Yorkshire Coast's villages and towns combine the traditional with the contemporary effortlessly, with trinket shops and tearooms sitting alongside up-market restaurants and champagne bars.

Nearby Robin Hood's Bay (5.5 miles) is one of the most popular coastal locations in Yorkshire or the UK for that matter. The village is a maze of cobbled streets and higgledy-piggledy houses which seem to tumble down towards the sea. Sandsend is 3 miles away, a gorgeous little seaside village well worth a visit during your stay. With its handsome promenade, long stretch of beach, several excellent eating options and world-class day spa, you could happily spend your whole holiday here. Staithes and Runswick Bay are also all under 10 miles away, each with their own unique charm.

Head inland from Whitby and you can be in the heart of the North York Moors within minutes. Take a tour of the impossibly pretty towns and villages in the area, Egton, Danby, Castleton, Rosedale. Or head up on the high moorland of Castleton Rigg, we guarantee on a clear day it will take your breath away.

The attic room is probably fine for children but anyone over 5 foot needs to be keenly aware of the ceiling beams to prevent an unexpected black eye. The location is brilliant and the adjacent pub and cafe are both excellent.

Fantastic location and a flat full of character with its three floors. Make sure they know how many are staying - we didnt have enough towels. Loved having Sherlocks coffee shop downstairs. Emmas Diner across the road is a good shout for dinner and Pizza West was excellent. Lots of good walks to enjoy. Would go back.

A fab little cottage right in the middle of Whitby, we really enjoyed our stay here. A few things in need of an upgrade but overall good value for money.

Over all the apartment was lovely, well decorated with an amazing access to shops and local attractions, parking could of be an issue however due to low season we parked at the local leisure centre as they have free parking up till March the 1st which would of been nice to known.. The cleanliness was not up to my standards, we found someone's knickRead moreers under the sofa along with a smashed glass, luckily spotted and cleaned up by myself as could of affected someone else's stay. NOTE - NO WIFI. Hide

Just wonderful! The coziness, the views, the fact that every drawer and cupboard is filled with anything and everything you could need its just lovely. If you struggle with stairs and hills it may not be for you but if you dont then book it now because its adorable. Clean and modern yet full of character and charm. The entrance to rose and crown yaRead morerd is next to Sherlocks cafe which is just another thing to add to its charm. And its not extortionate like a lot of other places Hide
