A perfect bolthole for a small family and a romantic getaway for a couple, this delightful cottage offers cosy accommodation in a beautiful and tranquil part of the North Yorkshire countryside.

Set in a sleepy North York Moors village, this dreamy two-bedroom bolthole is less than 20 miles from the fabulous city of York. With exquisite country cottage interiors, a beautiful private garden and a gastropub just a stone's throw away, it's an idyllic retreat from which to explore this stunning area of Yorkshire.

The interior decor is a mix of contemporary and country-chic, with stylish fixtures and fittings set against a warm and comforting backdrop. Downstairs, you'll find two generous reception rooms, a spacious family/dining room looking out onto the pretty cottage garden and a cosy living room complete with a wood burner. The lounge offers a TV with DVD and Wi-Fi is also included. French doors afford views to the cottage garden to the rear.

A galley-style kitchen boasts well-stocked cupboards and all the mod cons including a dishwasher and retro-style fridge/freezer. Elegant units combine effortlessly with exposed brick, tiles and chunky wooden worktops to create a charming country kitchen look. It's a real pleasure preparing food in here.

Both bedrooms are upstairs: a stunning master bedroom and a sweet twin room. The master bedroom comes with a king-size bed and with a soft colour scheme, has a warm and peaceful vibe. The adorable twin room is perfect for children or adults who enjoy their own space at night. Both rooms have lovely views out across the garden and to the countryside beyond. There's also a spacious family bathroom upstairs which has a stunning free-standing bath and separate shower. Perfect for those long hot soaks after a day's sightseeing. There's also a handy WC downstairs next to the front door.

Outside, the cottage boasts a private south-facing patio and lawned garden. It comes complete with a vegetable patch, herb garden and swings for the little ones. On a warm, sunny day there are few finer places to sit and enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside.

If you are bringing children with you, the cottage comes well-equipped with a host of additional extras to make your life easier. You'll find everything from toys and monitors to a toddler seat for the WC.

The cottage is located in Great Habton, a peaceful little village featuring a lovely pub and a scattering of houses. Designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in 1987, the lush pastures and woodlands of the southern Moors play host to grand country houses, atmospheric ruins and handsome market towns.

Pickering itself makes for a relaxing afternoon's mosey with its pretty houses, shops and tearooms. Malton has a similar appeal and is 5.5 miles away.

The beautiful market town of Helmsley is a little further on (14.5 miles) but is well worth a visit. A real foodies paradise with some great restaurants, cafes and delis. If you fancy a little pampering, you'll find a fantastic day spa here; the Verbena Spa. Perfect for some rest and rejuvenation.

We did just want to say how much we enjoyed our stay and that the cottage was wonderful. Weve stayed at a number of properties over the years but I dont think weve stayed anywhere with such a high thought of everything rating. Youve clearly put a lot of effort into considering the needs of guests which really does make it feel like a home from homeRead more. Hide

This really is a gorgeous cottage! It's much roomier than you might expect, attractive, beautifully styled and wonderfully comfortable, too. If all that wasn't enough, the thoughtful touches found on arrival make a stay here really special - cake, wine, crisps, etc.. The facilities are great, making this cottage a real home from home. The hairdRead moreryer was the first decent one I have ever had the joy of finding in a rental cottage or hotel room! The Wii in the family room (which is roomier than the pictures suggest) kept our pre-teens entertained in down time whilst not out exploring. If we had had younger children there's plenty to entertain them, too. Karen has really thought of everything! The cottage is perfectly placed to explore the moors and surrounding area - York, Eden Camp, Wharram Percy and all those picture perfect villages! We wish we'd stayed longer!
