A stylish and elegant two-bedroom stone cottage set in a pretty village location in Wensleydale, this handsome property boasts beautiful interiors and an idyllic setting with stunning Yorkshire countryside on your doorstep. Perfect for couples and small families alike.

The handsome frontage of this cottage looks like two properties, but it is in fact, just one. Step inside to discover a gorgeous little entrance hall complete with flagstone floors and chic side dresser; the perfect place to store muddy boots and coats after a hike across the hills. The flagstone flooring continues into the elegant sitting room. At the heart of this room a cosy wood burner crackles, lighting up the room with its warm glow. Snuggle down on a choice of two comfy sofas and watch a movie on the LCD TV or pop open a bottle of something and catch up by the fire. Wi-Fi is available if you need to connect online and a Wii console will keep the kids happy. Jigsaws and board games are provided for some offline fun too.

You'll find the kitchen/dining room next door with its attractive neutral units and chunky wooden worktops. The kitchen table sits in the middle, ready for a delicious breakfast while you plan a day's sightseeing. There's a dishwasher, large fridge-freezer, microwave and washing machine for your convenience.

Both bedrooms are upstairs, the first of which is the beautiful master bedroom with a white wooden bed and views out across the village. Next door is the charming twin room, again looking out to the village with two full-size single beds and beautiful built-in wardrobes. The house bathroom is downstairs, another elegant room with Italian-style floor to ceiling tiles. There's a bath for those post-walk soaks and a shower overhead for waking you up each morning.

Outside there's a sheltered stone patio with garden furniture, the perfect spot for lunch alfresco or a morning cup of coffee in the sun. Take a wander through the village and see if you can spot the local waterfall.

Parking: You can load and unload outside the cottage but please park the car in the free car park which is 50 yards away from the house.

The cottage is set in a sleepy little village in Wensleydale, just outside the market town of Leyburn. Its central location makes it the perfect base from which to explore this area of the Dales. The village itself has a local pub and a secret waterfall to discover under half a mile from the cottage.

Nearby you'll find the charming market town of Leyburn, which is within a 1-mile walk. Leyburn is an archetypical slice of Dales market town life. You'll find traditional shops, pubs and cafes all gathered around the handsome town square, which hosts a busy market every Friday. Leyburn is also home to Tennants, the biggest auction centre outside of London if you fancy picking up a bargain. The nearby historic town of Richmond (10 miles) is similar in many ways and has a lovely setting along the River Swale.

Middleham, one of Yorkshire's loveliest villages is just 3 miles away. Famous for its castle (once home to Richard III) it's also home to several racehorse trainers; you will see and hear the horses being led through the village up to the gallops every day. And to top it off there’s a lovely collection of pubs, cafes, restaurants and shops. Just 5 miles out of the village is the fantastic attraction The Forbidden Corner. Regularly voted the best family attraction in Yorkshire, it's also well worth a look even if there are no children in your party.

If walking is your thing, the Yorkshire Dales are something of a walker's paradise. And there are plenty of options for cycling too in this Tour De France country. You can strike out literally from the doorstep and there are several walking guides available in the cottage for you to use.

There are lots of other pretty villages and stunning natural sights all within close range of Tannery Cottage. Aysgarth Falls and Bolton Castle are just a few miles away and the gorgeous villages of West Burton (8 miles) and Askrigg (12 miles) are within easy driving distance, so there is lots of choice for things to do if you want to get out and about.

This cottage is well equipped, beautifully decorated, spotlessly cleaned, and even has a welcome pack for dogs! The only negative is the dishwasher, we had problems with it and the owner came to have a look at it, but was not able to fix the problem. The cottage is pretty in a lovely quiet location. Upstairs was pleasant with two nice sized bedrooms. However downstairs, needs quite a bit of work on it.

Really lovely cottage, well decorated and in a lovely location. Owners gave lots of information about the house and how things work, lots to look at in the area. Lots of places to eat in the area, we went to The Saddle room, would really recommend.

Lovely cottage in beautiful little village of Harmby. 5 minute walk from a waterfall. It's very remote and no shops in the village. Leyburn is nearby but not a quick walk. Tannery Cottage is a lovely little cottage nestled between others in a quiet little lane. We had a wonderful time exploring the local countryside and surrounding areas. The cottage was well equipped and comfortable with the added bonus of the hot tub and log burner that we also enjoyed.
