Property code: G0140

Welcome to this unique and beautiful hideaway set in one of Yorkshire's prettiest villages. Architect designed and converted from a traditional cowshed with no expense spared, the cottage is fabulously appointed and benefits from a host of additional services. A stylish and sophisticated interior, simply stunning views and the delights of a North Yorkshire country village a short stroll away – it makes the perfect couple's escape.

Tucked away on the edge of beautiful Goathland, the property enjoys uninterrupted views of the North York Moors, a truly wild and gorgeous landscape. A visit here is a chance to absorb the spirit and values of a simpler life, to relax and recharge.

The cottage is a sympathetic conversion of historic stone barns and offers a unique boutique one-bedroom luxury retreat. Designed to be the perfect bolthole for couples, everything about the place shouts grown-up glamour, from the honesty drinks tray to the luxury welcome goodies.

With a host of extra services, you'll feel seriously pampered from the moment you arrive. The easy pared-back style makes it a wonderfully restful getaway that boasts every essential of the modern hide-out, from the wood burners (inside and out!) to the roll-top bath, outside swing bench and much much more.

A handsome colour scheme of greys and greens with natural fabrics, old beams, heavy stone sills and traditional rendered plasterwork allow you to appreciate the original building whilst enjoying all modern luxuries. The sitting room features a lovely linen-covered sofa with an aged leather armchair, English Oak dining table and sheepskin rugs to make sure you're nice and cosy. There's a large wall-mounted Smart TV and Wi-Fi is provided if you want to catch up online. The traditional wood burner finishes the scene perfectly. The shaker-style kitchen is finished in a traditional style and has a washing machine, ceramic hob, electric oven, microwave and a Nespresso coffee-maker along with well-equipped cupboards with high-quality utensils, crockery and glassware for the cooks among you.

At the other end of the hallway is the fabulous bedroom with a state of the art en-suite bathroom and large walk-in rain shower. The bedroom is an understated but opulent combination of simple styling with the wonderful addition of a cast iron roll-top bath with brass taps sitting beneath an old oak beam. Hand waxed doors and wardrobes feature throughout. Inside the wardrobe, even the coat hangers and shelves have their own hand-stitched linen covers! With crisp white cotton bedding, comfy throws, cushions and soft mood lighting, you won't want to get out of bed.

To the front of the property is a large enclosed wild grass and alpine garden. At the back is a wonderful private covered dining area with wonderful views over your own woodland and wildlife pond. There's also an outdoor wood burner, a swinging bench and a BBQ so you can take full advantage of those balmy summer days! Throw open the stable door and settle down to a long lazy lunch over a bottle of fizz. Soak up this bucolic heaven and see if you can spot the wild roe deer and barn owls who are often daily visitors.

There is so much to enjoy outside this wonderful holiday home. Guests are welcome to use the paths over the owner's private estate which is a conservation showpiece and home to over 80 species of birds. There's plenty of lockable storage for your bikes, and extra wellies are provided if you fancy a hike across the fields without ruining your best boots! Footpath maps are available on request.

The location of the property is just magical. On the edge of Goathland village (famous as the location for the TV series Heartbeat), it's within easy walking distance of everything this stunning moorland village has to offer. There are a handful of gorgeous little tea rooms, sweet village shops where time stands still, a post office and several hotels and pubs – all offering good food and all within a 500-metre walk from the cottage.

The train station at Goathland is also well known as it was featured as Hogsmeade station in the popular Harry Potter films. Today this beautifully preserved heritage station is part of the North York Moors Railway line from Whitby to Pickering. You can hop on a steam train here throughout the year and enjoy a traditional ride through some truly stunning scenery.

If you enjoy the outdoors, you are in heaven here as the cottage is set at the heart of the North York Moors National Park. There are walking trails in every direction and the countryside is just breathtaking. See if you can discover one of the several waterfalls in the area including Mallyan Spout, Falling Foss, and Thomason Foss.

The property is surrounded by fabulous biking country. There are miles of empty country roads, endless off-road tracks and the Dalby Forest Mountain Bike Trail Centre with graded routes to suit all abilities from novice to adrenaline junkie. The 'Moor to Sea Cycle Network' connects Scarborough, Whitby, Dalby Forest, Pickering and Great Ayton in a stunning series of moorland, forest and coastal loops. There are around 150 miles to explore, through the very heart of the North York Moors National Park.

Take a tour of the impossibly pretty towns and villages in the area, including Egton (8 miles), Danby (15 miles), Castleton (18 miles) and Rosedale (15 miles). The quaint village of Beck Hole is just a mile down the road and boasts one of the smallest and best-preserved pubs in Yorkshire – head down to the river behind the Mallyan Spout Hotel and enjoy a breathtaking walk along a footpath through the estate to this pretty hamlet. Or head up on the high moorland of Castleton Rigg (18 miles), we guarantee on a clear day it will take your breath away.

A few miles east from here takes you to the stunning North Yorkshire coastline, a heady mix of rugged clifftops, peaceful bays and pretty fishing villages. With long sandy beaches and all the traditional seaside trimmings of yesteryear, this is proper bucket 'n spade territory. That's not to say it's stuck in the past, in fact, the coast's villages and towns combine the traditional with the contemporary effortlessly, with trinket shops and tea rooms sitting alongside upmarket champagne and oyster bars.

This region is best known for the gorgeously gothic town of Whitby. Playing host at one time to Romans, Saxons, Celts and Danes amongst others, the town's rich heritage is immediately obvious. Straddling the river Esk and dominated by the 13th century ruins of the Abbey on the East Cliff, Whitby's crooked cobbled streets and picturesque harbour have been a magnet for artists and tourists alike for centuries.

Although you could happily spend the weekend mooching about the independent shops, bars and cafes along Whitby's bustling medieval streets, it's well worth striking out to sample some of the other coastal villages nearby. Robin Hood's Bay is one of the most popular coastal locations in Yorkshire, or the UK for that matter. The village is a maze of cobbled streets and higgledy-piggledy houses which seem to tumble down towards the sea. Sandsend, Staithes and Runswick Bay are also all within easy driving distance, each with their own unique charm.
