Contemporary and bright, the kitchen/diner is a wonderful place to cook up a storm and experiment with flavour; showcase your culinary skills and dine at the elegant table or head outside and eat alfresco on the patio. For a night off from the kitchen, light up the BBQ and savour delicious tastes or travel 7.5 miles to a nearby Michelin-star restaurant where you can wine and dine to your heart’s content.

A great location at the Northern Tip of the Yorkshire Dales. Easily accessible from the A1, its set within a private estate home to open meadows, woodland and a private lake - you will love exploring it from the doorstep. From the cottage, head out through the little gateway and follow the rustic woodland path down to the lake. Take a seat on the bench here and soak up the view.

The cottage is set just outside the village of Barton near Richmond. There’s a little village stores and a pub serving drinks. If you’re a bit of a foodie there are several excellent dining pubs in the area, all within easy reach. Including a 2 Michelin Starred restaurant just a few miles away. Raby Castle and Deer Park are also very close by and make for a great day out.

It’s less than an hour’s drive to the coast and the City of York so makes an ideal basecamp from which to strike out and discover these unique Yorkshire locations. Reeth and the stunning landscapes of Swaledale and Arkengarthdale are also within easy reach, and its well-placed for a day trip over the Lakes if you want to explore there too.

Mainsgill, an award-winning Deli, tea-room and farm shop is also just a short drive from the house. It’s also the perfect location if you enjoy walking. There are lots of beautiful walks from the doorstpe and nearby Gilling West is well-known as a great starting point for walking - seasoned walkers come from miles around to set off from the village.

The cottage is just a few miles away from Richmond, an historic market town with much to offer the discerning holiday-maker. Explore the cobbled market square or head up towards Richmond Castle for a slice of Yorkshire history. Just a short drive through Richmond takes you into the heart of the Yorkshire Dales proper. Head up towards Reeth and on towards Hawes in Wensleydale for a true taste of this magnificent countryside. Stop at the Wensleydale Heiffer for lunch before heading back to the comfort of your large luxury Yorkshire cottage.

You’ll also close to the charming town of Barnard Castle. Recently listed as one of the top 10 places to live in the UK, it’s a pretty little place with a host of shops, cafes and pubs to explore. The excellent Bowes Museum is here and is well worth a visit. And as the name would suggest there’s an historic castle to explore too.

Further south, you’ll find the pretty market town of Northallerton where handsome Georgian houses line the long main street. The wonderful Betty’s Tearooms is here as is a fantastic local deli, Lewis & Cooper’s Food Emporium and of course the quintessentially Yorkshire department store of Barkers.

To take in the North York Moors head further south still and brave it up Sutton Bank, the view from the top said by some to be the finest in all of England. The gorgeous market town of Helmsley makes for the perfect pit-stop and if you feel like something special for lunch make your way to the Star Inn at Harome. And if you feel like a spot of pampering, there’s also a fantastic Spa just a few miles down the road.

Beautiful homely cottage. House was warm and comfortable. Bed and pillows were just right. Hot tub needed a good 4-5 hours to heat every day (longer on cold, windy days), but the owners provided plenty of logs to cover the nights we stayed. Lovely walks nearby and easy drives to Hamsterly Forest, Agarth falls and Bolton castle. We loved our stay.
