This beautiful cottage rests in the quiet village of Osgoodby, in easy reach of Thirsk, making a tranquil base for your romantic getaway to North Yorkshire.
This gorgeous cottage is set in a peaceful location in a quiet little hamlet just 5 miles from Thirsk. Accessed from a beautifully kept garden, you can enjoy the tranquillity of a countryside location on the edge of the North York Moors National Park while still being close to a pub, coffee shop (both 1.5 miles) and the animals at Monk Park Farm (2.5 miles). With ample space for up to four people, this cottage is bursting with countryside charm and is the perfect holiday home for guests that want to explore stunning wildlife and plants, all framed by spectacular views.
Follow the path through the wonderful garden and hang up your coats and boots in the vestibule before heading into the lounge where stunning wood beams and vaulted ceilings create a cosy atmosphere; snuggle up on the sofas and watch your favourite programme on the Smart TV among the crackling of the wood burner and an eclectic mix of antique and artisan pieces. Curl up on the armchair near the large window and read a book, looking out towards beautiful views.
Cook up a storm in the fantastic kitchen where stylish greys and rich woods are used to create a superb blend of the contemporary and the traditional. The chef of the group will revel in the appliances, including a bread maker, so there’s no excuse not to have tasty breakfasts! Gather around the table or pop out to the garden to dine alfresco among the breathtaking scenery.
When you’ve finished your meal and you’re ready to fully explore the garden, find the secluded double arbour beside the wildlife pond, shrub and herbaceous borders. It’s a typical cottage garden with lots of fruit, vegetables and flowers, including cherry trees and even some bonsai! Enjoy a little peace at the alpine rock garden, or stroll through the wonderful private wildflower meadow to a beautiful picnic spot beside a small lake. Take in the magnificent views from all around you, sipping an al fresco drink from the table. Look out for hares, wild deer, owls and badgers, or visit the five friendly hens and collect their eggs. You’re also welcome to harvest any of the vegetables that are ready to eat during your stay. Whatever you like to do outside, you’ll find your favourite little spot out here.
When it’s time for bed, head back inside to the ‘landscape room’, where a super-king-size zip-and-link bed can be made into a twin on request and features fantastic rich woods and elegant soft furnishings. Stylish downlighting gives the room a light and airy feel, but switch them off and rely on the lamps and you’ll create a soft, dreamy atmosphere that will lull you to sleep. The ‘portrait room’ feels indulgent and relaxing with regal reds among superb wooden beams and a comfy chair alongside a table for you to read the newspapers in the morning. And with a king-size bed, there’s plenty of room for you to stretch out. Take an invigorating shower in the morning in the en-suite shower room or take a luxurious soak in the separate bathroom in the evening to soothe aches and pains from walking in the moors.
