This tastefully renovated cottage is in a secluded rural setting within the grounds of a private estate where there’s a lake and woodland you’ll love to explore. Perfect for all seasons, it offers classic interiors plus a walled garden with a wood-fired hot tub – and it’s just a short drive from the market town of Richmond.

Your luxury country living experience begins the moment you enter the boot room, where there’s space to kick off footwear, hang up coats and towel-dry any wet pets. Along the hallway, there’s a beautiful bespoke, handmade country kitchen complete with bench seating, a farmhouse table and a wood burner which will add a warm glow to winter gatherings. There’s a real fresh-as-a-daisy feel to this room, and it’s complemented by all the home-from-home essentials that will take the hard work out of your holiday, including a fridge/freezer and dishwasher.

A warm welcome awaits in the sophisticated lounge too, where eclectic country-style furnishings and finishing touches sit comfortably alongside modern must-haves such as a Smart TV and Bluetooth speaker. Unwind with a movie, catch up on your favourite podcast or simply chill in front of the open fire… there’s room for everyone to relax here. Completing the ground floor convenience is a utility room that’s both beautiful and useful, housing a washing machine and tumble dryer as well as linking to a cloakroom with WC.

After all the fabulousness of your busy day, when bed beckons, you can head upstairs for a restful night's sleep. At the top of the stairs are two bedrooms, both looking out to the estate grounds. The super-king-size bedroom has a day bed for an additional guest and is bathed in natural light thanks to windows on two sides, while in the other, there’s a super-king-size zip-and-link bed which can be made up as twins on request. A magnificent family bathroom on this floor features a free-standing roll-top bath, a separate walk-in shower and a Victorian-style hand basin and WC for added wow factor.

Your stay at this exquisite holiday home will be enhanced even more by the space on offer outside. Within your own private walled garden, there’s outdoor seating, a charcoal BBQ and a wood-fired hot tub – enjoy a soak beneath the stars for the ultimate out-of-this-world experience. If you want to stretch your legs, wander through the woodland down to the lake… don’t forget to say hello to the horses and sheep that graze the estate!

Treat yourselves to days out in Richmond from this delightful cottage. A charming market town on the borders of Wensleydale and Swaledale, Richmond boasts an 11th-century castle, fine Georgian architecture, a Georgian theatre and a large cobbled market square as some of its many attractions. Stroll around the town and pause for a cup of Yorkshire tea at one of the many tearooms or sit down to dinner at one of the excellent restaurants in town.

The scenic River Swale runs through the town and, less than 1 mile away, are the River Swale Waterfalls. You can walk in either direction along the river and deep into the countryside without having to go anywhere near the car. We also recommend exploring the restored former Richmond Railway Station which has lots to entertain young and old including a small cinema, cafe, gallery, microbrewery and artisan bakery.

Richmond is also known as the Gateway to the Dales so expect stunning Dales scenery within minutes of leaving the town. Peppering this glorious countryside are countless attractive little towns and villages. The historic village of Easby, home to picturesque Easby Abbey, is just 2 miles out of town and 8 miles from the cottage. Set on the banks of the River Swale, the abbey is the perfect spot for a picnic in the summer months.

This is a superb area for walkers and cyclists with many routes from the doorstep or just a short distance away, including Alfred Wainwright’s famous Coast to Coast Walk which passes close by. Head into Darlington, 5 miles away, to see a show at the Hippodrome, catch a film at the cinema or visit the Head of Steam Museum.
