  • New for 2022 – delightful barn conversion on the owners' working farm
  • Just 1 mile away from the centre of the seaside town of Hornsea
  • For larger groups, there is another property next door sleeping two further guests
Property code: 85723

Ideally situated to explore the stunning East Yorkshire Coastline, this charming stone property provides the ideal base for a family retreat.

Enjoy the best of the Yorkshire coast and Wolds when you stay at this handsome stone barn, approximately 1 mile from Hornsea. Sleeping four guests, and welcoming one four-legged friend, the two-bedroom property, which enjoys its privacy, is one of two holiday homes on this working farm, where the owners also live. It could be perfect for a small family on a Yorkshire break or could suit two couples eager to escape together.

Head into Hornsea to browse a variety of small shops, bars and restaurants or enjoy a day at the beach. Visit Hornsea Mere, 2 miles, the largest freshwater lake in Yorkshire, offering sailing, fishing and boat trips. There are also other appealing coastal towns within easy reach, including Bridlington, 13 miles from the barn. Drive 16 miles to the city of Hull, with its celebrated aquarium, and plan days out to stately homes and gardens, including Burton Agnes, 12 miles away, and Sewerby Hall and Gardens, 16 miles from the barn.

Wander into your temporary, single-storey home and find yourselves in a bright and airy lounge/kitchen/diner, with a splash of cheerful colour here and there. Put the kettle on to make a cup of tea to enjoy with the Yorkshire parkin you have bought from a bakery then find your favourite programme on the Smart TV.

When your hungry party needs feeding, head over to the kitchen to prepare a tasty meal with your own fresh ingredients. Find everything else you need here, including an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, and dishwasher. Set the table then call everyone to gather round and enjoy the feast.

When eyelids droop, wander along the corridor to one of the two spacious bedrooms. Find you have a twin, with zip-and-link beds that can be arranged as a super-king-size if discussed at the time of booking, and a light-filled super-king-size that can be made up as a twin on request. Pull open the expansive glass doors in here on to the courtyard garden on warm mornings. Discover this contemporary holiday home also features a shower room.

Savour the outside space at the former barn, where there is plenty of seating for everyone. Light the BBQ to sizzle supper out in the fresh air; sip a cool glass of wine and read your book for a while. Find you have off-road parking for two cars, plus secure cycle storage.

  • 2 bedrooms - 1 super-king-size zip-and-link (which can be made up as twins on request) and 1 twin zip-and-link (which can be made into a super-king-size on request)

Arrange a visit to the beautiful market town of Beverley. One of Yorkshire’s best-kept secrets, its stunning, 13th-century minster often regarded as one of Europe’s finest Gothic churches. Take a look at the town’s medieval architecture before indulging in a spot of shopping around its lively cobbled squares. Finish off with a drink in one of the traditional, friendly Yorkshire pubs where time has stood still for decades.

Also get to know the gorgeous Yorkshire Wolds while you are in this corner of the world: this is a range of low rolling hills rising from the River Humber and sweeping along to the stunning cliffs at Flamborough Head, 21.5 miles from the cottage. The gentle nature of the countryside here makes it an excellent location for walking and cycling.

Visit the famous city of Hull, 16 miles away, while you are on holiday and take the children to while away a few hours at The Deep. This is one of the largest aquariums in the UK, housing over 3,000 marine creatures, including penguins and sharks.

Overall well presented accommodation, great bedrooms, very well kitted out - everything need to a self-catering let. Lounge/diner space was a little lacking. For my son and myself it was fine, but for a family of 4, I'm not so sure. Location was a slight issue. The road could be noisy at times. Just had a lovely week in this cottage with my brother (adult wheelchair user, leg amputee). On arrival we were impressed at how clean and modern it was. There was milk in the fridge and crisps, chocolates and drink sachets. The doors are wide enough to allow the wheelchair though and the shower room was also big. We needed a wheelchair accessible and dog friendly cottage. This met both criteria well, comfortable. The pack of tea/coffee/milk, plus dog treats and towel was very welcome. The cottage is reasonably wheelchair friendly. There is a 1-2" lip at the base of the access ramp for the front door and access to the rear small patio area may be difficult aRead mores the patio door appears to have a standard lip, the access ramp also ends in gravel. Internally good access. Would definately stay again. Hide
