Enjoy relaxing in this countryside retreat on the cusp of the North York Moors. The open-plan space provides the ultimate social accommodation to take a relaxing break with friends or family.

Tucked away at the northern edge of the North York Moors, this rural retreat is an ideal place for families and friends to enjoy quality time together. Surrounded by the rolling green hills of Yorkshire’s countryside, there are plenty of country walks on your doorstep, or you could venture further afield to the heather-clad hills of the National Park. Perhaps you’d prefer a leisurely stroll around one of the many attractive towns and villages nearby, followed by a cup of Yorkshire tea or a pint of ale in a welcoming tearoom or pub. The area is also well-suited to cyclists, with trails and routes to suit all abilities. Whichever way you wish to spend your days, you’ll love returning home for a spot of friendly competition in the games’ room or a soak in the hot tub as you enjoy the picturesque views. Situated in the small, tranquil village of Great Busby, you are only 1.5 miles from the larger villages of Carlton-in-Cleveland and Kirkby, both of which have pubs and shops for your convenience.

As you step inside, you’ll find yourself in the attractive, beautifully furnished open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner; the ideal space for everyone to spend time together whether you’re cooking, eating or relaxing. After you’ve cooked up a storm in the well-equipped kitchen, head to the lounge to snuggle up on the sofas in front of the wood burner-effect gas fire whilst you watch your favourite programme on the Smart TV.

Upstairs, there are three gorgeous bedrooms. Firstly, there’s a spacious king-size bedroom with French doors that open on to a Juliet balcony, so you can let the fresh air in and appreciate the stunning views. The second bedroom is also a king-size and the third has bunk beds, which the kids will love. Completing the first floor is the beautiful bathroom with a bath and separate shower.

Outside, there is a games room next door, with a pool table, darts board and TV, making it a perfect area for older children to retreat to. The adults, however, will enjoy al fresco dining on the patio and the private hot tub. There is off-road parking for two cars.

The attractive village of Great Ayton (5.5 miles) has a wonderful village vibe. With a selection of pubs, restaurants, cafes and tearooms, you could eat out every night if you wanted to. As home to a young Captain Cook, there is also the Captain Cook Schoolroom Museum which allows you to explore his early life in the surrounding area. If you love to walk, from Great Ayton you can walk up to Roseberry Topping (7 miles); a prominent hill with lots of walking trails that lead up to the distinctive summit and cliffs.

The vibrant little village of Osmotherley (10 miles) is well-known as a starting point for walkers and cyclists. This gorgeous little place is real picture-postcard stuff. It also offers excellent facilities including a cafe, village stores and a fish and chip shop. If you're a bit of a foodie, this part of Yorkshire is packed with fantastic gastropubs, restaurants and delis. Situated within the western reaches of the North York Moors, designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in 1987, Osmotherley has close proximity to lush pastures and woodlands. The western Moors play host to grand country houses, atmospheric ruins and handsome market town and the views from here are simply stunning, and there are walks and cycle routes in every direction. You are very close to the famous Cleveland Way as well as many more well-known and picturesque moorland walks, some of which lead all the way to the sea.

Great Ayton’s position at the northern end of the North York Moors means the coast is easily accessible from here. To breathe in the fresh, sea air, head to seaside town Saltburn-by-the-Sea (18 miles) with its pier, cliff tramway, golden sand and clean surf.

The beautiful market town of Helmsley (20 miles) is within easy driving distance and is well worth a visit. If you fancy a little pampering, you'll find the Verbena Spa here; perfect for a little me time indulgence.
