This recently renovated cosy cottage is the ideal property for couples to holiday together amongst beautiful surroundings. Situated on the north-eastern edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, keen walkers and cyclists will be spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing a route or trail. The small, peaceful village of Wensley is 1.5 miles away. It is steeped in history and is home to a picturesque waterfall. There is also a village pub and a candlemakers. After a busy day exploring the local area, head home to curl up in front of the open fire or enjoy a spot of al fresco dining in the gorgeous garden. Exquisitely decorated throughout, this cottage has the perfect blend of contemporary design and traditional features. Rich blue tones contrast beautifully with the crisp white walls, whilst stylish and timeless fabrics have been used to add drama and warmth. On entering, you’ll find yourself in the grand open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, with its high ceiling and original features. On your left is a cosy lounge area with an open fire housed in a statement-piece fireplace. Along the back of the room is the compact, but well-equipped, kitchen with views of the trees outside and completing the living space is the dining area where four people can dine comfortably. There are two exquisite bedrooms. The first is a super-king-size room, which is very spacious and has plenty of windows to let the light flood in and allow guests to appreciate the views. Elegant, traditional-style furniture adds a sense of class and luxury to the room. This bedroom has an en-suite shower room. The second bedroom is a little more modest, but no less elegant with traditional furniture making good use of the space. Completing the accommodation is an elegant bathroom with a roll-top bath – the perfect place to unwind after a busy day exploring. Outside, the garden is immaculately presented, with a few seating areas allowing you to follow the sun. There is a small courtyard to the front of the property, which is perfect for a morning coffee as you peruse the map and decide on your route for the day. To the side of the property, there is some seating under a shady pergola as well as two rattan sofas on the patio area. The shed offers lockable storage and has a BBQ and outdoor tableware to use. Middleham (4.5 miles) in Wensleydale, is one of Yorkshire's loveliest towns. Famous for its castle (once home to Richard III), it's also home to several racehorse trainers; you will see and hear the horses being led through the village up to the gallops every day. And to top it off, there is a great collection of pubs, cafes, restaurants and shops.

Just 2.5 miles out of the village is the fantastic attraction, The Forbidden Corner. Regularly voted the best family attraction in Yorkshire, it's also well worth a look even if there are no children in your party.

In the opposite direction, you'll find the charming market town of Leyburn (3 miles), with its traditional shops, pubs and cafes all gathered around the handsome town square. As well as a busy market every Friday, the town is also home to the biggest auction centre outside of London. The nearby historic town of Richmond (11 miles) is another great option for a day out with its scenic setting along the River Swale.

There are a wealth of other pretty villages and stunning natural sights all within close range of the cottage including Aysgarth Falls, which were featured in the film Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, and Bolton Castle, where Mary Queen of Scots was once held prisoner; both are under 8 miles away.

The village of Aysgarth (7.5 miles) is in Wensleydale and boasts many great options to eat, including popular pubs and cute cafes. If you visit in spring, you can’t leave without a visit to Freeholders’ Wood where bluebells, anemones and primroses will be in full bloom.

The stunning landscape of Wensleydale itself includes 25 miles of lush valleys, criss-crossed with the area’s iconic dry-stone walls. If you enjoy walking and countryside views, you will not be short of things to do, with Wensleydale providing delightful moorland, dale-side and valley walks. Wensleydale is also sandwiched between Wharfedale and Swaledale, if you fancy exploring further afield.

If walking is your thing, the surrounding Yorkshire Dales are something of a walker's paradise. And there are plenty of options for cycling too, with a variety of excellent gastropubs to enjoy a well-earned pit-stop along the way.

A very comfortable and luxurious experience in this cottage. It was extremely relaxing in this quiet location. A very generous welcome pack was provided and thoroughly enjoyed. The weather was wild and wet for much of our stay, but the cottage was a cosy retreat. We would love to return.

A stunning property in a peaceful location. The bedrooms, bathrooms and garden are amazing although the open plan living space is a little small which made food prep awkward. You also feel like you're sitting in the kitchen so not very cosy. Easy to find, good access and plenty to do locally.

Beautifully maintained cottage with great outside space including the former platform. Well equipped with some original features still in place. Well placed for walking, some trails from the property and for local towns such as Leyburn Hawes and Masham. Peaceful rural location. Local pub a short drive away.

The primary bedroom and en-suite shower room exceed expectations in terms of luxury and size but the second bedroom is disproportionately small and lacks finesse and this could prove problematic if two couples were holidaying together. The bathroom down a flight of stairs from this bedroom is very nice. The sitting/ dining/ food preparation area isRead more cramped. The outside space is well thought out and there are a variety of seating areas all with very nice furniture. Hide
