Located on a working pig farm on the edge of the quaint Yorkshire village of Sherburn in Elmet, this sumptuous retreat for two guests offers the perfect base from which to explore all the North Yorkshire hotspots. This meticulously designed bolthole bursting with style and comfort in equal measure is perfect for a romantic couple’s getaway with a canine companion.

Keen outdoor enthusiasts seeking a great Yorkshire adventure, look no further than this splendid retreat surrounded by gorgeous, peaceful countryside, with a plethora of scenic walking trails to explore from the doorstep; sun-dappled woodlands, rolling hills, and gentle streams wait to be explored.

As soon as you step into this beautifully designed retreat, the warming, peaceful ambience envelopes you, creating an instant feeling of calm and tranquillity. With high vaulted ceilings and wooden beams throughout, you’ll be transfixed by the pure beauty and rich heritage of the interior.

Everything is at your fingertips in the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, which does not compromise on either style or comfort. The lovely, inspiring colour palette natural and neutral tones perfectly reflects the unspoilt surrounding scenery, keeping you connected to the world around you.

Sip a glass of something chilled at the island, which takes pride of place in the centre of the contemporary farmhouse-style kitchen. Equipped with everything you need to whip up a delicious picnic or romantic feast for two, unleash your inner foodie to get creative with your local produce and dine long into the evening with your loved one seated on the high bar stools at the kitchen island. There’s plenty of room for your four-legged friend to enjoy a tasty treat curled at your feet.

As day turns to dusk, sink into the plush corner sofa in the living area to catch up on a good book or cuddle up together to enjoy the latest blockbuster on the Smart TV. On a balmy evening, throw open the bi-folding doors to soak up your fresh, countryside air as you plan tomorrow’s adventure around North Yorkshire.

Soothe weary walking muscles with a long bubbly soak in the bath or an invigorating shower in the contemporary bathroom. When you can’t resist the call of bedtime, you’ll find a super-king-size bedroom adjoining the main open-plan living space. Dressed in the same calming colour palette as the rest of the cottage, a peaceful night’s rest is guaranteed. The Smart TV makes a great addition to lazy morning lie-ins and late-night films.

The jewel in North Yorkshire's crown, we think York is one of the best short break destinations in England and is a favourite amongst even the most seasoned of travellers. This ancient walled city has been the north's spiritual capital for 2,000 years, but that's not to say it is stuck in the past; history seeps out of every cobbled street, but the crooked old buildings house a fantastic range of contemporary designer shops, cafes, restaurants and bars.

Everywhere in York is easily reachable by foot as this small but perfectly formed city houses most of its main attractions within the city walls. Middle Ages town planning means it can take quite some time to get your bearings but finding your way around the labyrinth of warped streets is part of the fun. Make sure you take in York Minster (17 miles), The Shambles (19 miles), the Railway Museum (17 miles) and Betty’s Tearoom (19 miles) whilst you're there.

If you are looking for outside space in which to relax, you have the choice of several parks and gardens, including Dean's Park next to the Minster 17 miles away, the Yorkshire Museum Gardens (19 miles) next to the River Ouse and, slightly further afield, Rowntree Park 17 miles away with its tennis courts and bowling green.

Its central location also makes a great base from which to explore the rest of glorious Yorkshire, with the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors both within 30 miles for beautiful walks and adventurous days out.

The beautiful market town of Easingwold 28 miles away is well worth a visit, offering lots of lovely independent shops and cafes to indulge in.

Fantastic stay in a well equipped space that was quiet, private, and secure. Local town has lots of amenities and it was easy to journey to Leeds, York, and further afield from the space. Ideal for those with disabilities too due to it all being on one level with large and secure parking directly outside.

The directions to the property after you have arrived at the farm were incorrect but after a phone call to the owner we entered the property without a problem. The std of the barn is very good. A lovely, well-furnished, modern barn conversion in an ideal location for exploring Yorkshire. Spotlessly clean and really comfortable to stay at. The hosts were always quick to respond to any questions and gave us some great recommendations for places to eat. We had an amazing time and cannot recommend the Pig Barn highly enough! :)
