A 19th-century cottage infusing authentic character with plenty of modern comforts, this property is an idyllic retreat for families looking to spend quality time together.

Welcome to this beautiful 19th-century 2/3-bedroomed property set on the cusp of the North York Moors National Park. Perfect for families and couples alike, this detached gem of a property boasts gorgeous elegant interiors, an outdoor hot tub and a wonderful village location.

Come inside to find a boot room/porch, perfect for kicking off those muddy walking boots. Step on into the heart of the home, a generous open-plan living space, home to the lounge, kitchen and dining area. Yorkshire flagstones underfoot and exposed beams overhead give the room bags of natural character.

Make your way over to the lounge area with a cosy wood burner keeping everything nice and toasty. Light up the fire and stretch out on the comfy sofa, or curl up on one of two classic armchairs. It's time to switch off and relax! To keep everyone entertained there's a TV and a DVD player if you want to bring your favourite box set. There's also a radio and a Bluetooth speaker so you can provide your own soundtrack. Wi-Fi is also provided.

The gorgeous cottage kitchen has attractive shaker-style units, well-stocked with all the appliances and equipment you'll need to cook up a storm. All mod cons are provided including a fabulous three-oven range cooker with ceramic hob, a full-size dishwasher and even a wine fridge for that most essential of holiday ingredients. A further utility room houses a large fridge/freezer and washer/dryer, with a handy cloakroom/WC next door.

Settle down to eat at the large farmhouse table, there's plenty of room for everyone to gather around. Spread out the papers over your morning coffee or enjoy an atmospheric dinner which stretches long into the night.

Downstairs is also home to 'The Burrow', an endearing snug room/bedroom perfect for kids (and the grown-ups!) to escape to and have their own space. There's a further TV/DVD player in here with lots of child-friendly DVDs and a toy chest to explore. Older kids will love finding the Xbox to play with. A day bed in here is the perfect place to sit during the day, and at night doubles up to a full-size single bed which comfortably sleeps a child or adult alike.

There are two further bedrooms upstairs, the first of which is the stunning master bedroom. Set at the front of the house this gorgeous room has a king-size bed and original beams overhead. An armchair sits by the window and offers a nice spot for a date with a favourite book. The final bedroom is a gorgeous twin room with two full-size single beds. Perfectly placed fabrics and furnishings in soft tones give this room a serene and peaceful feel.

The generous house bathroom is also upstairs. Parents of younger children (and those who love a good hot soak) will delight in finding a bath as well as a separate walk-in shower. Soft fluffy bathrobes and slippers are provided for every adult guest.

And what better way to make use of your robes than a trip outside to the warm and inviting hot tub! Ready and waiting for you all year round, it seats up to five adults comfortably and is the perfect way to end a busy day sightseeing. In addition to the hot tub, the garden has a delightful gravelled patio area complete with furniture for those al fresco lunches. A further lawned area is perfect for relaxed picnics over a bottle of fizz while a range of outdoor games provide entertainment for all.

The cottage has an idyllic rural location. Set in a pretty North York Moors village you have some lovely walks in the area. There's a nice local pub within half a mile serving good pub grub, perfect if you don't fancy cooking one evening.

Just north of the village lies the North York Moors National Park. A landscape like no other, this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is a place of gently rolling heather-clad hills, ancient woodlands and lazy rivers winding through lush green valleys. If you want to get away from it all, take a trip to the top of the high central moorlands. The famous Blakey Ridge (13 miles) affords some of the best views in the country in our opinion and is just a few miles drive from the cottage. And if walking is your thing, you are surrounded on all sides by some truly stunning routes.

Just a few miles north takes you to the pretty town of Kirkbymoorside (4 miles) which has much to offer including a gallery, antique shops, tea room, deli, wine shop and butchers. There's also a great market on Wednesdays. From there you can move on to the vibrant and attractive Yorkshire market towns of Pickering (7 miles) and Helmsley (10 miles), both of which have an abundance of good restaurants, tea rooms and independent shops. Helmsley is also home to an excellent day spa if you fancy a spot of pampering.

The cottage is also close to the North Yorkshire Coast, with the gothic town of Whitby (26 miles) and the picture-postcard fishing village of Robin Hood's Bay (30) within driving distance. Take a day trip here and experiences the sights, sounds and tastes of Yorkshire's coastline.

Hutton-le-Hole (6 miles), quite possibly the most beautiful village in the North York Moors, is just around the corner and you're also close to Castle Howard (13 miles) and the gorgeous medieval City of York (30 miles) - lots of choice for day trips.
