This stylish holiday cottage is an ideal retreat for enjoying a break away with family or friends with classy touches throughout. It is the perfect base to immerse yourself in the Yorkshire Dales.

This quaint, end-of-terrace, stone cottage, in the heart of one of the Yorkshire Dales National Park’s prettiest villages, is an ideal property for two couples or a family. Situated in West Burton with its attractive village green and no through road, this cottage offers guests the combination of village life and rural tranquillity. Conveniently, within the village there is a shop/tearoom, pub, butchers, an antiques shop and a pottery. Other delightful towns and villages are also nearby and all have a wealth of shops, eateries and historic sights to explore. Within the Yorkshire Dales, there are many walking trails and cycle routes, all allowing you to soak up the rolling hills, dramatic scenery and traditional stone walls associated with the Dales.

As you step through the front door, you’ll find yourself in the bright and airy open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. The use of neutral greys and whites help make the most of the modest living area as they create the feeling of light and space. There are a few original features which hint at the property’s heritage, but they have been seamlessly blended with the contemporary cottage style that has been used throughout the property.

The lounge has comfortable sofas, which will be perfect for snuggling up in front of the wood burner of an evening. The well-equipped, modern kitchen has everything you’ll need to cook a meal for four and there is seating for everyone around the upcycled, country-cottage dining table in the corner. There is even a utility room for wet coats and muddy boots.

Up the cottage-style stairs, you will find two bedrooms (two double) with fresh linen and white furniture creating a restful atmosphere. The large, family shower room completes the accommodation. To the rear of the property, a south-facing, walled garden has views across the countryside. Its modern dining furniture offers a lovely place to sit and enjoy a morning coffee, whilst planning the day ahead. Roadside parking opposite the property is subject to availability, parking available in village.

Nearby Aysgarth (2.5 miles) is in Wensleydale, within the breathtaking Yorkshire Dales National Park and home to the Aysgarth Falls, which were featured in the film Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves! The village boasts many great options to eat, including popular pubs and cute cafes. If you visit in spring, you can’t leave without a visit to Freeholders’ Wood where bluebells, anemones and primroses will be in full bloom.

As hard as it will be to tear yourself away from the picturesque village, there’s plenty more to see and do in the local area. Within a 10-mile radius, there are the charming settlements of Hawes and Askrigg. Hawes is a popular market town less than 10 miles from Aysgarth and is most famous as being the home of Wensleydale cheese! It also boasts lovely shops, pubs and tea rooms. Walkers will also love the town as the Pennine Way passes through it, making it the perfect starting point for exploring the countryside. The small village of Askrigg is 7 miles away from Aysgarth and has some delightful tea rooms and pubs.

The stunning landscape of Wensleydale itself includes 25 miles of lush valleys, criss-crossed with the area’s iconic dry-stone walls. If you enjoy walking and countryside views, you will not be short of things to do, with Wensleydale providing delightful moorland, dale-side and valley walks. Wensleydale is also sandwiched between Wharfedale and Swaledale, if you fancy exploring further afield.

History lovers will be fascinated by visits to Bolton Castle, Middleham Castle and Jervaulx Abbey, which are 5.5, 10 and 13 miles from the property, respectively. Bolton Castle dates back to the 14th century and once held Mary, Queen of Scots prisoner, while Middleham Castle was the childhood home of Richard III. Jervaulx Abbey is the country’s largest privately-owned Cistercian Abbey and offers peace and tranquillity to its visitors. If you enjoy a bit of surreal entertainment, how about a visit to the quite brilliant Forbidden Corner, an attraction full of statues and hidden surprises, 9.5 miles away also near Middleham.

Fabulous cottage in a beautiful village, stunning local walks and not too far to explore other locations and see the sights. We would certainly book the cottage again with our four legged friend.

Lovely cottage, nice and clean, a lovely little welcome pack on arrival and in a beautiful location. There is waterfall just down the road and walks on the doorstep. The local pub does really good food and take away. My only complaint was the garden as not overly dog friendly as completely gravelled and small and no back door to let them out of, yoRead moreu have to take them out the side door and stay with them.
