Self-catering holiday accommodation in Great Ayton

Great Ayton will be forever associated as being the childhood hometown of the 18th century explorer, Captain James Cook. The best tribute to the man of the sea is the Captain Cook Schoolroom Museum which is a fantastic reconstruction of an 18th century classroom as well as showing interactive displays about his voyages. Stay in a luxury holiday cottage in Great Ayton and you may also learn even more about Cook and the places he lived and worked before setting off over the horizon.

For serious walkers, Great Ayton is home to several trails and is a great base for those wishing to explore deep into the Moors.  The village is also close to Roseberry Topping - the summit is 1050 feet high and from the top, it offers fantastic views of the Yorkshire countryside. Nearby, there are other historical sites including the striking Guisborough Priory.  The pretty market towns of Stokesley and Helmsley are close by and make a great day out. Visit the mediaeval buildings and the castle ruins followed by a shopping trip for family and friends back home.
