In this week’s collection of Yorkshire images we are showcasing the work of Yorkshire photographer Mark Butler and in particular his project & resulting book on the Yorkshire Dales National Park: Working the View
This fascinating project is a unique collaboration between brother and sister Mark and Sarah – Mark the photographer, Sarah the writer. Read on to discover how they have encapsulated the magic of the Yorkshire Dales landscape through images and the words of those that live here…
Working the View – Mark & Sarah Butler
This beautiful coffee table book explores the relationship between the landscape of the Yorkshire Dales and its guardians, shining a spotlight on the work they do to protect, nurture and work the land around them.
It features 40 participants with close connections to the Yorkshire Dales National Park, from landowners to farmers to those working in organisations to protect the landscape. Each were asked during individual interviews to suggest 3 viewpoints of the Yorkshire Dales which mean something to them. The interviews were recorded and presented in the book ‘as said’, giving the book a vibrancy to match the glorious images alongside.
