Burtersett holiday cottage is set in a pretty hamlet between the market towns of Leyburn and Hawes in Wensleydale. This idyllic corner of the Yorkshire Dales is particularly dramatic, and is blessed with an abundance of natural beauty at every turn.
Talented Yorkshire photographer Mat Robinson recently spent a working holiday here and captured the stunning images below. Read on to discover why Burtersett Cottage is the perfect choice for your landscape photography holiday to Yorkshire…
Burtersett Cottage – Mat Robinson’s landscape images
Despite the weather blowing a gale (Mat was knocked off his feet a few times!) and storms rolling in from the South, Mat managed to capture some truly beautiful images of Upper Wensleydale and the landscape surrounding Burtersett Cottage…
The Northern side of the Valley, near Lovely Seat
All of the above images on the Northern side of the valley were taken within an hour of sunrise…
The Southern side of the Valley, above Hawes
Stunning views from here down to Wharfedale and Ingleborough. A beautiful and dramatic area…
On the drive back down to Wensleydale
The above images show that you barely have to leave your car for some amazing photo opportunities. All of these images were taken from well-known spots by the roadside.
Given Mat took them during a stormy and wild winter, it’s clear this part of the Yorkshire Dales is photogenic whatever the weather, whatever the time of year. And as Mat said, ‘there’s nowt like the lovely open fire in Burtersett Cottage to warm your hands when you get back in!’
Burtersett Cottage – A landscape photographer’s dream
Burtersett Cottage is a gorgeous 2-bedroom luxury holiday cottage set just outside the town of Hawes in Wensleydale. With a roaring open fire, a cosy wood-burner in the kitchen and a comfortable classic style, it is the perfect base from which to explore this part of the Yorkshire Dales.
All of the above images of Wensleydale and the Yorkshire Dales were taken within easy walking distance of Burtersett Cottage, so you don’t even have to get into the car to capture some stunning shots of Yorkshire.
And to really get those creative juices flowing, here are some more beautiful landscape locations close by:
