The Tour de Yorkshire 2018 is almost here!

The Tour de Yorkshire 2018 is almost here – 4 days of fabulous cycling through the gorgeous Yorkshire countryside

Book a short break to watch Le Tour de Yorkshire

One person in the Gorgeous Cottages team who is particularly excited about the forthcoming Tour de Yorkshire is Operations Director Phil Brion. A very keen cyclist you’ll often find Phil on his bike in the North York Moors and Yorkshire Dales.

Phil Brion of Gorgeous Cottages loves cycling in Yorkshire

Here are some of the things Phil is most looking forward to in Le Tour de Yorkshire 2018:

#01: Taking part in Le Tour de Yorkshire Sportive on 6th May.

It’s fantastic to be part of Le Tour de Yorkshire and ride some of the same routes that the professional teams will be riding. Day 4 is a tough route but it also goes through some of my favourite Yorkshire Dales villages like Pateley Bridge. The Sportive is a great way for amateur cyclists like me to get involved in Le Tour de Yorkshire.

#02. Soaking up the atmosphere with my family.

I can’t wait to see and hear the fantastic Yorkshire crowds cheering the sportive (and pro riders) on and it’s fantastic that my family will get to see me on the actual Tour de Yorkshire course. I will probably pretend to my 6 and 8 year old daughters that I won Le Tour de Yorkshire!

#03. Wearing my branded Gorgeous Cottages kit!

I’ll be kitted out in my Gorgeous Cottages cycle gear as I travel through Yorkshire. Hopefully this will make me easy to spot so please give me a encouraging wave when you see me.

#04. Watching the professional cyclists in action

It has been confirmed that big names such as Mark Cavendish and Greg Van Avermaet will be taking part this year and there will be top class cycling to enjoy throughout the weekend.

There’s loads of places where you can get involved and cheer the competitors on – I’ll be staying in Richmond which is the Start point for Day 3 and I think the atmosphere will be fantastic! Stay at Tate Studies in Richmond.

#05. Ending the day with a nice pint of Yorkshire beer

The perfect end to a day of cycling is to head to the pub with a pint of Yorkshire beer. I can discuss the highlights of the ride and start planning for the next one. Cycling is a great way to socialise, keep fit and enjoy beautiful Yorkshire.

Gorgeous Cottages have a selection of holiday homes available along the route of Le Tour de Yorkshire.
