Some very exciting news for Rosedale Abbey and the North York Moors in general this spring. Easter 2014 will see the grand re-opening of the Milburn Arms Hotel in Rosedale.
This once thriving hotel has been closed for several years until the team behind Danby Castle started to transform it into a fabulous country house hotel, bar and restaurant.
So why is this such great news for the moors?
Milburn Arms Hotel Rosedale – The Grand re-opening
It just warms your heart to hear about a rural pub/hotel re-opening, when usually the opposite is true. Rural pubs, inns and hotels are the life blood of these small and often remote villages and hamlets. Yes they are great for visitors and tourists to the area but they also provide a central place for the locals to gather and catch up over a pint.
We’re also quite excited about the fact that the new proprietors are the team behind nearby Danby Castle. And we know from previous experience that they tend to do things very well. So really looking forward to seeing what they do with the Milburn Arms Hotel.
Rosedale is a bit of a central hub for walkers and cyclists alike, so this will provide another very welcome place to stop and re-fuel. What could be more delightful than a spot of lunch at a country hotel after a long hike across stunning moorland.
Lastly, rather selfishly it’s given us another great option for dining in the area. Rosedale is such a pretty little village and there are now several great options for dining out here. I for one will be heading over there soon to try out the new restaurant and am thrilled that it us just a stone’s throw from our very own Rosella Cottage in the village.
