What better way to re-charge the batteries than escaping to a cosy country cottage on a short break to the Yorkshire Dales? Aygill Farm Cottage is an idyllic rural retreat so fitted the bill perfectly for a much needed relaxing girly weekend break in Yorkshire!
A warm welcome (and warm scones)
Aygill Farm Cottage is a sweet one-bedroom cottage and made the perfect get away for two old school friends to have a good old catch up! Upon arrival we were met by Pat the wonderful owner who led our way into the cottage where warm from the oven scones were waiting!
A cosy cottage in the Dales (straight from The Holiday)
As soon as we arrived at this wonderful little cottage we were absolutely bowled over, in fact it was just like Kate Winslet’s cottage from The Holiday ( if you haven’t seen this film, please watch it). Aygill Farm Cottage can be described as a little nugget of gorgeousness in a peaceful, relaxing location with views to die for.
A scenic drive (with Swaledale Sheep)
After unpacking and popping our wine and nibbles into the fridge we took a short drive into Hawes – (we could have walked but had sadly forgotten our boots). The very scenic drive took us over the hills where the Swaledale Sheep reside. You’ll see them meandering onto the roads and looking at you curiously!
A country pub in Hawes
We parked in the free car park and made our way through the cobbled streets to The Crown Pub which is dog friendly and serves very nice pub grub and a nice glass of wine! The bar staff were very friendly and we also had an interesting chat with an Australian gentleman who loves the Yorkshire Dales so much that he visits every year.
After browsing the local antiques shops and purchasing a few little trinkets for our Christmas trees from the local craft stores we made our way back to switch on the fire and enjoy a cosy night in at the cottage.
Relaxing by the fire
Heading back to the cottage we got settled into our PJs (well it was a girlie weekend) in the luxurious bathroom and got the wine and nibbles at the ready.
We then curled up on the cosy chairs by the fire and reminisced well into the night of times gone by. Waking up the next morning was so difficult! It was so peaceful and the beds so comfy.
After prising myself out of bed I drank a large cup of coffee whilst sitting in the window seat over looking the fabulous views. This was a real treat!
Sunday lunch in Muker
Time to go! Sadly it was time to leave this truly Gorgeous Cottage (and say goodbye to Bandit the cat who lives next door) so we made our way to Muker and ended our Gorgeous weekend with a smashing, tasty Beef & Yorkshire pudding Sunday dinner at the Farmers Arms! A perfect short break to the Yorkshire Dales!
Summary of my short break to the Yorkshire Dales
A wonderful girly weekend was had. A gorgeous cottagey cottage full of character with amazing views . Everything you needed for a relaxing weekend was provided. In fact the only thing that could have made it even more perfect was Jude Law knocking at the door!
