Appletree Cottage is a contemporary and spacious coastal retreat set a stone's throw from the beach, just a few miles from Whitby. Lots to love about this bright and modern holiday home including its large living areas and stunning tiered garden, complete with a view of the sea. And last but not least its fantastic location in the heart of Sandsend, one of the prettiest and most popular villages on the Yorkshire coast.
Tucked away in the side streets up some steps and behind the main promenade, step inside Appletree Cottage to discover a surprisingly large and light-filled seaside property. Downstairs you'll find a spacious open-plan living area home to the living room, dining area and kitchen, all blessed with a cheerful and lively ambiance.
In the living room you'll find a choice of comfy seating, including a leather sofa and chaise. A real flame effect electric fire keeps everything nice and cosy on those coastal nights, and there's a large LCD SMART TV for your entertainment with Netflix & Amazon available. In addition there's Wi-Fi and an MP3 docking station. So lots to keep the whole family happy indoors.
The spacious kitchen sits to the front of the house and offers grey shaker-style units with all of the usual mod cons. There's a full size fridge-freezer as well as a dishwasher, washing machine and Nespresso maker. The dining area sits at the opposite end of this open-plan space, in the perfect position by the patio doors. It's a very pleasant spot whatever the time of day.
All of the bedrooms in Appletree Cottage are set on the first and second floors. The master bedroom sits at the very top of the house on the second floor. This lovely room is bathed in light from a large window and additional skylight above the bed (blind included). It also boasts a en-suite shower room and WC. There is an additional double room on the first floor with a lovely big window, and a further bedroom on this floor with a double bed. Both of these bedrooms share the beautiful family bathroom which has a bath and shower overhead. Hair-dryers are provided in all rooms and bathrobes are available for adults.
The garden at Appletree Cottage echoes the beachy feeling of the house. Set over different tiers the first level is a charming patio area flagged with Yorkshire stone and home to stylish patio furniture ? it's a real sun-trap and the perfect spot for that sun-downer after a day on the coast. From the patio a few steps up lead to the garden with a further seating area, and from up here there are views across the sea to Whitby!
Appletree Cottage is set in the beautiful and very popular village of Sandsend near Whitby, you can be walking along the beach within minutes of leaving the house. Tucked away behind the main promenade in the quiet side streets, this charming Yorkshire cottage is also just a few miles from some of the most stunning scenery in the North York Moors.
Sandsend is set on the beautiful North Yorkshire coastline; a heady mix of rugged cliff tops, peaceful bays and pretty fishing villages. With long sandy beaches and all the traditional seaside trimmings of yesteryear, you can indulge in a classic English seaside holiday. That's not to say it's stuck in the past, in fact the Yorkshire Coast's villages and towns combine the traditional with the contemporary effortlessly, with trinket shops and tea rooms sitting alongside up-market restaurants and champagne bars.
Sandsend itself is a gorgeous little seaside village. With its handsome promenade, long stretch of beach, several excellent eating options and world class day Spa, you could happily spend your whole holiday here.
Appletree Cottage is also just a few miles from the beautiful town of Whitby. With its wonderful seaside heritage, excellent restaurants, independent shops and host of bars and cafes along its medieval streets, it has so much to offer the discerning holidaymaker. It's also well worth striking out to sample some of the other coastal villages nearby. Robin Hood's Bay is one of the most popular coastal locations in Yorkshire, or the UK for that matter. The village is a maze of cobbled streets and higgledy piggledy houses which seem to tumble down towards the sea. Staithes and Runswick Bay are also all within easy driving distance, each with their own unique charm.
Head inland from the cottage and you can be in the heart of the North York Moors within minutes. Take a tour of the impossibly pretty towns and villages in the area, Egton, Danby, Castleton, Rosedale. Or head up on the high moorland of Castleton Rigg, we guarantee on a clear day it will take your breath away.
