About Arundel Grange
Welcome to Arundel Grange, a beautiful Yorkshire farmhouse tucked away in exquisite Coverdale next to Wensleydale. Dating back to the 17th Century, this handsome property offers families a chance to escape from busy lives and reconnect with nature. Traditional, elegant and full of character, this is a county retreat you'll want to create memories in.
Set in an elevated position in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, the views from Arundel Grange are spectacular. Stretching across and down the dale, take some time to just soak them in on your drive up. Step inside to discover a period farmhouse which has been sympathetically brought back to life.
In keeping with the feel of the building the decor is one of classic elegance with lots of traditional furnishings and colours giving an authentic ambience. Original stone fireplaces, exposed beams and Georgian sash windows add to the period appeal. That's not to say its missing modern comforts, the wonderful Yorkshire flagstone floor is heated throughout downstairs and a NEST heating system keeps the rest of the house toasty warm.
At the heart of the home is the generous sitting room. Comfortable sofas and chairs gather round a large open fire, the perfect welcome home after a day exploring the dales. You'll find books and board games in the book case for some off-line family fun. Just along the hallway is the snug / games room, perfect for children (and adults) to squirrel themselves away in. There's a cosy wood-burner in here, a shabby chic sofa and a TV which is purely used for the usage of DVDs only. A large DVD library will keep all age groups happy and fast broadband is available for your own devices.
A handy downstairs WC sits opposite the snug.
Arundel Grange boasts a gorgeous farmhouse kitchen with flagstone floors, whitewashed stone walls, bespoke dark blue units and a solid oak worktop. A charming pastry table sits neatly in the centre of the room and a stable door allows you to enjoy those breath-taking views. You'll find all the usual mod cons including a dishwasher, range oven, microwave and full-size fridge with freezer drawer. A washing machine and dryer can be found in the barn across the yard.
The formal dining room sits next door, a wonderfully atmospheric room which lends itself to memorable family gettogethers around the table. As dusk falls, you could be dining in any one of the previous four centuries.
All four of the bedrooms in the house are on the first floor. Make your way up the amazing original stone staircase to the spacious landing. Most of the upstairs has stripped wooden floorboards underfoot giving it warmth and character.
Bedroom one sits at the rear of the house, a delightful twin room with oversized single beds. Bedroom two is across the landing. Set at the front of the house the views from this double room are stunning. The family bathroom sits between both bedrooms and has a bath with powerful shower overhead.
Bedroom three is along the hallway, another twin room which enjoys lovely views and has a contemporary en-suite shower room. The master bedroom is also front facing and makes the most of that glorious scenery. Only the sound of birdsong to wake you from your slumber in the king-size bed. This room also has a generous en-suite with a bath to sink into.
Outside Arundel there is sheltered area by the kitchen door. Patio furniture is provided if you fancy lunch al fresco with a Wensleydale backdrop. Listen out for the sound of the river babbling along at the bottom of the valley and see if you can spot any of the local wild deer.
If the kids ever tire of exploring the surrounding countryside they'll be delighted to discover the games room barn home to a pool table / table tennis table and 'Ring the Bull' game. Hours of fun without leaving the grounds.
Additional barns are available for bike storage if required.
Please note Arundel Grange is set at the end of a private track. It is a working farm track that can be uneven at times. The final approach to the house is up a short steep incline. Both tracks are suitable for normal vehicles if approached with due care.

And for eats a dining pub is also within walking distance.
Horsehouse is located on the road from Middleham village in Wensleydale to Kettlewell in Wharfedale. Middleham is one of Yorkshire's loveliest villages. Famous for its castle (once home to Richard III) it's also home to several race-horse trainers; you will see and hear the horses being lead through the village up to the gallops every day. And to top it off there is a lovely collection of pubs, cafes, restaurants and shops. We love it so much it features in our Top 10 Prettiest Yorkshire Villages.
There are charming tearooms if you fancy a treat at elevenses, and for dinner you can opt for pub grub at the Richard III traditional pub or perhaps some Italian food at the renowned White Swan. There's also a village store and a couple of bric-a-brac shops to mooch around. Just a few miles out of the village is the fantastic attraction The Forbidden Corner. Regularly voted the best family attraction in Yorkshire, it's also well worth a look even if there are no children in your party.
Just a little further on you'll find the charming market town of Leyburn. Leyburn is an archetypical slice of Dales market town life. You'll find traditional shops, pubs and cafes all gathered around the handsome town square, which hosts a busy market every Friday. Leyburn is also home to the biggest auction centre outside of London if you fancy picking up a bargain. The nearby historic town of Richmond is similar in many ways, and has a lovely setting along the River Swale.

Aysgarth Falls and Bolton Castle are just a few miles away and the gorgeous villages of West Burton, Askrigg and Kettlewell are within easy driving distance, so lots of choice for things to do if you want to get out and about. Zarihnas Tea House in Kettlewell and Coverdale Community Pub offer lovely little pit-stops.
