Burdale Barn is an elegant 3-bedroom barn conversion set in a peaceful village in the Yorkshire Wolds, just 30 minutes from York. With an exceptional interior, authentic character and acres of open countryside from the doorstep, it's an idyllic luxury retreat.
On ground level there is a stunning open plan kitchen, dining and lounge area, with a contemporary wood burning stove at its heart. The fixtures and furnishings are top of the range - quality and style are evident from the moment you walk in the door. There is also a very useful utility downstairs which includes a shower and WC.
Heading upstairs takes you to the first double bedroom; a large and homely room with original oak beams over-head and warm wooden accents throughout. Next door is the family bathroom featuring a sumptuous Fired Earth bath and matching tiles. The large master bedroom is en suite and enjoys uninterrupted views of the lovely Wolds landscape below. There is also a generous single room with adorable white furniture and bedding.
Outside the cottage there is a very pleasant patio area paved with Yorkshire Stone. With views of the meadow below it's a delightful spot for lunch or an evening BBQ in the summer months.
If you are bringing the kids, Burdale Barn is a very family-friendly luxury cottage. To keep them entertained there is a PS3, children's DVDs, a selection of board games and jigsaws, children's books and a basket of Brio wooden trains and track. There are also lots of baby-friendly extras like stair gates for top and bottom of the stairs, a changing mat, potty, toilet training seat, microwave bottle steriliser and baby bath.
Burdale Barn is set in the village of Fimber, a peaceful little village in the Yorkshire Wolds around 30 minutes from Central York. The cottage is on the outskirts of the village so within seconds you are walking in open countryside.
Fimber is an ideal base from which to explore all that this area has to offer. Still a relatively quiet location in terms of tourism, the Yorkshire Wolds are a range of beautiful low rolling hills rising from the river Humber and sweeping along to the stunning cliffs at Flamborough Head, peppered with countless pretty villages and towns. A favourite with David Hockney, it inspired many of his greatest works including 'Bigger Trees Near Warter in 2007' - his largest ever work.
The gentle nature of the countryside here makes it an excellent location for walking and cycling. For more info take a look at www.nationaltrail.co.uk/yorkshirewoldsway and www.cycleyorkshirewolds.com
The Wolds are home to many historical homes and religious sites, as well as one of Yorkshire's largest lavender gardens. The Yorkshire Coast, North York Moors and Yorkshire Coast are also all within easy driving distance from here and make for a great day trip. And for a real taste of classic village life tootle along to Pocklington, a pretty little Yorkshire Wolds market town less than 20 minutes drive.
