Church Farm Cottage is a real chocolate box holiday cottage perfectly proportioned for two. Set within the grounds of a beautiful country farm house it offers total peace and tranquillity within the comforts of Yorkshire village life.
The main living space is all open plan, and with high ceilings and wonderful patio doors it gives the cottage a bright and comfortable feel. The kitchen provides everything you need to cook including a ceramic hob, oven and microwave. There's also a fridge with an icebox - essential for those afternoon G & Ts! And if you need it, you also have access to a washing machine, dryer and larger freezer in a separate building beside the cottage. Guests will arrive to a yummy welcome hamper of essentials with a few treats thrown in, and some home-brewed sloe gin too for that afternoon tipple!
There is a comfortable and stylish sofa to sink into each evening, the perfect place to curl up and watch a movie on the LCD TV & DVD Player. Wi-Fi is also provided if you want to catch up online. The dining table is set by the patio doors affording a gorgeous view of the gardens and North York Moors countryside beyond. Throw open the doors and enjoy lunch to the sound of birdsong overhead.
And when it's time for bed you can look forward to a king-size bed dressed in crisp white cotton bedding. This bed can also be set up as two singles if required. The generous bedroom is again bright and elegant in style and has the benefit of an en suite shower room. Luxurious bath robes are provided too so you can lounge about in complete comfort! The perfect way to end your day's sightseeing in Yorkshire!
The star of the show is the wonderful views from your own private decked balcony. Looking down across the Vale of York your view is completely uninterrupted and it's the perfect spot for that morning coffee or evening glass of fizz. There's also lockable storage for bicycles.
Church Farm Cottage is set in the picturesque village of Crayke less than 15 miles North of York. Believed to be the spot where the Grand Old Duke of York Marched his Men to the Top of Hill, the village commands wonderful views of the surrounding countryside. There's a lovely circular walk which takes you to The Dutch House - a gorgeous gallery, garden and eatery which specialises in pancakes!
The village itself is a charming little place, very typical of this area of Yorkshire. Perfectly positioned to visit the very best of North Yorkshire, the cottage sits in an area called the Howardian Hills. Designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in 1987, this land of lush pastures and woodlands plays host to grand country houses, atmospheric ruins and handsome market towns.
If you're a bit of a foodie you'll be spoilt for choice here. There are several excellent gastro-pubs within easy driving distance including the nationally renowned Durham Ox at Crayke, just a few minutes walk from the cottage away. The fantastic Michelin-starred Star Inn at Harome is also close by.
If walking is your thing there are lots of beautiful walks in the area, some right from the doorstep. And if you fancy some serious hiking the North York Moors landscape offers some of the best walking in the country. Take a trip up to the top of the high moorlands around Blakey Ridge and breathe in that clear Yorkshire air.
The beautiful market town of Helmsley is within easy driving distance and is well worth a visit. If you fancy a little pampering you'll find the Verbena Spa here; perfect for a little me time indulgence!
