Clitherow Cottage is a fabulous restored Edwardian gatehouse enjoying stunning views across traditional parkland in Hotham. Gorgeous interiors and an idyllic village location (complete with an excellent dining pub) make Clitherow Cottage absolute perfection.
The interior of the cottage is a classic blend of traditional and contemporary. Each room has been lovingly designed and furnished to the highest standard, with lots of little details making Clitherow feel like a home from home.
Downstairs you'll find a large open plan kitchen, dining area and lounge with a separate little snug to escape to. A very welcome addition if you're staying with kids!
Upstairs features a gorgeous double bedroom with en suite, a charming twin bedroom with a third bedroom which can be used as a single, twin or double. There is also a large family bathroom.
To the rear the cottage there is a delightful shared garden and patio area, perfect for al fresco dining in the warmer summer months.
There is also off-road parking available for several cars.
The cottage is set in the lovely estate village of Hotham in the Yorkshire Wolds. Typical of many of the villages in this area, Hotham is set right beside a grand country estate with acres of traditional English parkland to explore. It's perfect if you want to take your bike out or fancy a conker collecting expedition with the little ones in the Autumn months.
There is an excellent pub in the village [The Hotham Arms] and several more good dining pubs within a short drive. The landlord Joe is a real character in the area and he will ensure you arrive to a very warm welcome. We loved the open fires and candlelit ambiance inside... And if you feel like dining in we recommend the short trip to Drewtons Farm Shop, just a mile or so from the cottage. Stock up on the finest Yorkshire produce here, from excellent local beef to the most amazing pies and cakes. There is also a very good cafe here which is open 7 days a week.
Hotham is an ideal base from which to explore all that this area has to offer. The beautiful city of Beverley is just 10 minutes' drive from the cottage. Explore the stunning Beverley Minster before indulging in a spot of shopping around its lively cobbled squares. Finish off with a drink in Nellies, a traditional Yorkshire pub where time has stood still for decades.
And beyond the town, get to know the gorgeous Yorkshire Wolds, a range of low rolling hills rising from the river Humber and sweeping along to the stunning cliffs at Flamborough Head. The gentle nature of the countryside here makes it an excellent location for walking and cycling.
The Wolds are also home to many historical homes and religious sites as well as one of Yorkshire's largest lavender gardens. And for kids there are heaps of fantastic attractions nearby (indoor and out) including the excellent Yorkshire Wildlife Park and The Deep in Hull.
The Yorkshire Coast, North York Moors and beautiful city of York are also all within easy driving distance from Park Cottage and make for a great day trip.
