Welcome to Dawn View, a gorgeous barn conversion looking out over a pretty village green near Richmond. With beautiful Swaledale just a few miles away and immaculate interiors to come home to, this handsome holiday home is a great option for couples and small families alike.
Subject to a recent refurbishment, Dawn View is a cosy and welcoming cottage with bags of kerb appeal and an elegant contemporary interior. Combining the traditional character of the building with modern comforts like underfloor heating, this lovely property offers a comfortable and relaxing stay.
Downstairs you'll find a charming living room with the choice of two 2-seater sofas to stretch out on. A heather rug and heather/blue tartan curtains give the room a peaceful comforting vibe. There's a flat screen SMART TV which has Netflix and Amazon Instant Video and a DVD Player, with high-speed Wi-Fi provided too.
Next door is the well-proportioned kitchen diner. There are a host of oak kitchen units and good-sized solid oak dining table with 4 leather chairs. You'll find all the equipment you need to rustle up dinner, and there's an award-winning farm shop just a few miles away to stock up on your fresh local produce.
Both bedrooms in Dawn View are upstairs on the first floor. The master bedroom has a double bed with an attractive metal bedstead and plenty of storage options. Crisp white sheets and a cosy woollen throw complete the look. The second bedroom is a very sweet twin room housing two full size single beds. It's perfect for children or adults who prefer their own space at night.
The house bathroom is also upstairs. There's a bath to sink into each night and a shower overhead for the morning. Indulge in a long hot soak after a days' walking in the Dales! There's also a handy cloakroom with a toilet downstairs.
Outside there is a charming cobbled area which includes an off-road parking space for one car. Bistro table and chairs are provided if you want to enjoy that lovely view of the green over lunch. Or watch the sun rise with your morning coffee..
Dawn View has a great location set at the Northern Tip of the Yorkshire Dales. Set in the picturesque and peaceful village of Melsonby, it's a lovely little spot for a holiday. Nestled around a cobbled courtyard looking out over the village green, its less than an hour's drive to the coast and the City of York so makes an ideal basecamp from which to strike out and discover these unique Yorkshire locations. Reeth and the stunning landscapes of Swaledale and Arkengarthdale are also within easy reach, and its well-placed for a day trip over the Lakes if you want to explore there too.
There's a good pub in the village within easy walking distance, and if you're a bit of a foodie there are several excellent dining pubs in the area, the fantastic Black Bull at Moulton and the Shoulder of Mutton at Middleton Tyas.
Mainsgill, an award-winning Deli, tea-room and farm shop is also just a short drive from the house. It's also the perfect location if you enjoy walking. There are lots of beautiful walks nearby and nearby Gilling West is well-known as a great starting point for walking - seasoned walkers come from miles around to set off from the village.
The cottage is just a few miles away from Richmond, an historic market town with much to offer the discerning holiday-maker. Explore the cobbled market square or head up towards Richmond Castle for a slice of Yorkshire history. Just a short drive through Richmond takes you into the heart of the Yorkshire Dales proper. Head up towards Reeth and on towards Hawes in Wensleydale for a true taste of this magnificent countryside. Stop at the Wensleydale Heiffer for lunch before heading back to the comfort of your large luxury Yorkshire cottage.
West of Dawn View is the charming town of Barnard Castle. Recently listed as one of the top 10 places to live in the UK, it's a pretty little place with a host of shops, cafes and pubs to explore. The excellent Bowes Museum is here and is well worth a visit. And as the name would suggest there's an historic castle to explore too.
Further south, you'll find the pretty market town of Northallerton where handsome Georgian houses line the long main street. The wonderful Betty's Tearooms is here as is a fantastic local deli, Lewis & Cooper's Food Emporium and of course the quintessentially Yorkshire department store of Barkers.
To take in the North York Moors head further south still and brave it up Sutton Bank, the view from the top said by some to be the finest in all of England. The gorgeous market town of Helmsley makes for the perfect pit-stop and if you feel like something special for lunch make your way to the Star Inn at Harome.
And if you feel like a spot of pampering, there's also a fantastic Spa just a few miles down the road.
