Welcome to Deerholme Cottage, an immaculate 3-bedroom luxury barn conversion tucked away on the cusp of the North York Moors. Perfectly positioned between the handsome market towns of Pickering and Malton, this gorgeous property offers families the very best in self-catering accommodation. From its elegant interiors and modern comforts to its period character and stunning rural location, this is a place to enjoy with those nearest and dearest to you.
Subject to a recent and complete refurbishment, no expense has been spared in transforming this old farm building into a comfortable and generous holiday home. Combining the traditional with the contemporary effortlessly, the refurbishment retained original features like exposed oak beams whilst introducing modern luxuries like underfloor heating throughout downstairs.
At the heart of the home is the warm and inviting lounge complete with a cosy wood-burning stove. There's a choice of two comfy sofas to snuggle up on, or an armchair by the window. Enjoy a good old catch up by the fire with a glass of red or settle down to a family movie on the huge flat screen TV. Netflix, Googleplay and a Blueray DVD player are provided so lots of options. Wi-Fi is also available.
Next door is the kitchen / diner, a generous and light filled room with lots of space for the whole family. This good-looking kitchen combines solid oak units and a sleek dark granite work-top. Families will love the large American style fridge freezer, grown-ups will enjoy the wine cooler and all the other usual mod cons are provided including a dishwasher, induction hob and double oven. A separate utility is home to a washing machine, tumble dryer and handy downstairs loo.
The dining table sits in the heart of the kitchen, a chunky solid oak table seating 6 comfortably. Just the spot for those precious family breakfasts where everyone can take as much time as they like. Full Yorkshire fry optional but highly recommended! A wall-mounted TV is also provided in here, a welcome addition for parents of little ones who require a little distraction over dinner!
The kitchen leads onto a delightful sun room / snug area with amazing views out over the farmland and beyond. Throw open those patio doors and let the warm Yorkshire sunshine in. A heavenly spot to squirrel yourself away with a good book for the afternoon.
All 3 bedrooms in Deerholme Cottage are upstairs, the first of which is a fabulous master bedroom. This generous room boasts a king-size bed to stretch out on each night as well as a wall-mounted TV for those indulgent morning telly moments. There's also an en-suite shower room and loo.
Bedroom 2 is a charming double with dramatic high ceilings and exposed beams. And finally, bedroom 3 - a sweet bunk room perfect for little ones. Both of these bedrooms also feature their own TVs.
The elegant family bathroom is also upstairs. There's a bath as well as a separate walk-in shower, perfect for families and those who enjoy an indulgent long soak.
There is much to enjoy outside too. To the front of the cottage, accessed via patio doors from the kitchen / sunroom, you'll discover a large stone terrace with uninterrupted views across the farmland and countryside beyond. Outdoor furniture is provided for lunch al fresco and a fire pit allows you to enjoy this space into the evening.
Deerholme Cottage also offers the facility to take horses with indoor stabling and a grass paddock available. Contact us for more details. There is ample off-road parking for several cars and room for a horsebox if needed.
Deerholme Cottage has beautiful location, tucked away in the North Yorkshire countryside equidistant from the gorgeous market towns of Malton and Pickering. Set on the cusp of the North York Moors, there are lovely walks from the doorstep and stunning walking available within a short drive. Plenty of good cycle routes nearby too if you want to explore on 2 wheels.
The very pretty village of Thornton-Le-Dale is within easy reach and an absolute must during your stay. This much-loved village looks like it's been lifted straight from a chocolate box with its sweet little shops, meandering river and thatched cottages. Reward a wander around with a big slice of cake and cup of Yorkshire tea at one of the many cafes.
Just a few miles away you'll find Pickering, a handsome North York Moors market town. Grand Georgian architecture stands alongside cosy traditional cottages to create a picture postcard setting. There are several excellent restaurants, pubs and cafes in the town to discover and enjoy. The wonderful North York Moors Railway starts in Pickering where you can catch a steam train to Whitby and back again through some of the most picturesque countryside in Yorkshire.
Beyond the town lies Dalby Forest and the amazing North York Moors, a landscape of gentle rolling hills of heather, ancient woodland and lazy rivers winding through lush green valleys. If you want to get away from it all take a trip to the top of the high central moorlands. Also a great option if walking is your thing. For families the lure of Flamingo Land may be difficult to resist with its high-octane rides and wild animals and Go Ape and Dalby cycling trails are a short distance away.
In the opposite direction to Pickering you'll find the equally good-looking market town of Malton, known as Yorkshire's foodie capital. This small town has a big reputation for food, markets and traditional old-fashioned charm. You can easily spend a whole morning wandering around the independent shops and artisan food producers in town.
In addition to Pickering and Malton there are lots more well-heeled towns and villages dotted about the Moors, where honey-coloured sandstone buildings lend warm contrast to the deep purple and green of the surrounding hills. The beautiful market town of Helmsley is close by and is well worth a visit. If you fancy a little pampering you'll find a fantastic day Spa here; the Verbena Spa. Perfect for a little me time indulgence!
You're also close to Castle Howard, York, Scarborough and the North Yorkshire coast with the RSPB nature reserve at Bempton, for keen sea bird watchers. So lots of choice for day trips.
