Keen cyclists should note Double Cream Cottage provides lockable bike storage and an outdoor wash area so you can make the most of the breath-taking cycle routes in the area.
Please note there are animals in the adjacent paddocks so children and dogs must be supervised.
Double Cream Cottage has been converted from an historic old barn that was part of a farm which supported the neighbouring Meynell Hall. The hall is a Grade II listed building which was formally known as Broctune Abbey, home to a group of Cistercian monks many hundreds of years ago.
Its set in open countryside with stunning views of the Cleveland Hills and the Wainstones, part of the famous Cleveland Way walk. The cottage is just outside Great Broughton, a pretty village on the cusp of the North York Moors National Park. This lovely village offers two great dining pubs just a 15-minute walk across the fields from the cottage.
Just a few miles further is the beautiful market town of Stokesley. Hosting a market every Friday on its handsome cobbled square, this charming Georgian town offers a host of independent shops, cafes and restaurants to try. There's also a 9-hole golf course and swimming pool. The neighbouring village of Great Ayton is also well worth a visit, an idyllic Yorkshire village set beside a meandering river, and once the boyhood home of Captain James Cook.
Heading in the other direction takes you into the North York Moors proper. Designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in 1987, the lush pastures and woodlands of the western Moors play host to grand country houses, atmospheric ruins and handsome market towns.
There are some stunning walks right from your doorstep including the famous Cleveland Way just a few miles away. The much-loved landmark Roseberry Topping is another favourite walk in the area. The beautiful market town of Helmsley is within easy driving distance and is a must on any visit to this area. If you fancy a little pampering you'll find the Verbena Spa here - perfect for a little me time indulgence – and the Michelin-starred Star Inn at Harome as well as lots of other excellent foodie options in the area.
You're also close to Castle Howard, York and the North Yorkshire coast, so lots of choice for day trips.
