**Just launched January 2019**
It's hard to imagine a more picturesque village for a country escape than Coxwold in the North York Moors National Park.
Forge Cottage is a beautiful one-bedroom holiday cottage in the heart of Coxwold that's ideal for couples and solo travellers alike. We love the chic country style, open-plan living space and glorious gardens which you can really make the most of in the summer months.
Store your coats in the entrance lobby (accessed up a couple of steps) before heading into the heart of the cottage - a large open-plan space which houses the living, dining and kitchen areas. The inviting lounge includes a characterful stone wall with warming open fire and a sumptuously soft leather sofa to sit and relax on. For your entertainment there is a digital radio, large SMART HD-TV and WIFI so you can connect to your favourite streaming service - perfect if you want to catch up on a box-set.
The shaker style ivory kitchen fits in perfectly with the cottage's country vibe and comes with solid oak worktops. It's well-designed and equipped with all you need to rustle up something delicious during your short break or holiday. Appliances include a fan oven with grill, induction hob, a fridge with icebox and a very handy slimline dishwasher. Please note: There isn't a washing machine at Forge Cottage, however the owners can provide a laundry service for a small charge.
Next to the kitchen and completing the open-plan living space is an oak dining table and country style chairs - perfect for enjoying a romantic meal for two.
Everything at Forge Cottage is on one level including the bedroom. The King-Sized bed comes with a Hypnos mattress so you can enjoy a good night's sleep after a day of walking in the surrounding Yorkshire countryside or shopping in the nearby towns.
It's a soothing space with cream walls, a neutral carpet, splashes of warming colour and a seating area where you can relax. The bedroom furniture includes a wardrobe, dressing table and bedside cabinets so there's also plenty of storage for your holiday wardrobe.
The modern bathroom features underfloor heating and a P-shaped bath with a dual fittings shower overhead. It's up to you whether you take an indulgent soak or an invigorating shower - robes, slippers and a heated towel rail will keep things nice and toasty for you.
Forge Cottage sits alongside the owner's property and private gardens that guests are welcome to enjoy - with numerous seating areas for both sun and shade lovers, a dining area and BBQ. These mature gardens are full of colourful foliage and trees to enjoy. It's located in the heart of Coxwold so you'll find the best of village life and lots to explore in the surrounding Howardian Hills directly from your front door.
Forge Cottage has an enviable location in the village of Coxwold - one of the most picturesque villages around and home to a tea-room, gift shop and a well-known dining pub - The Falconberg Arms. The lovely towns of Easingwold, Helmsley and Malton are also nearby where you'll find everything from butchers and bakers to delis, coffee shops and wine merchants around handsome market squares.
Perfectly positioned to visit the very best of North Yorkshire, the cottage is within the North York Moors national park and sits on the edge of an area called the Howardian Hills, centred on Castle Howard. Designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in 1987, this land of lush pastures and woodlands plays host to grand country houses, atmospheric ruins and handsome market towns.
Any visit to this area must include a day trip into York. York is a favourite amongst even the most seasoned of travellers. History seeps out of every cobbled street, but the crooked old buildings house a fantastic range of designer shops, cafes, restaurants and bars. Make sure you take in York Minster, The Shambles, Railway Museum and Betty's Tea-rooms whilst you're there.
If you're a bit of a foodie you'll be spoilt for choice here. There are several excellent gastro-pubs within easy driving distance including the nationally renowned Durham Ox at Crayke just a few miles away. And if you want to push the boat out, the Michelin starred Black Swan at Oldstead and Star Inn at Harome are within easy reach.
If walking or cycling is your thing there are lots of beautiful walks and routes in the area, some right from the doorstep. And if you fancy some serious hiking the North York Moors landscape offers some of the best walking in the country. Take a trip up to the top of Sutton Bank to see the famous Kilburn White Horse and breathe in that clear Yorkshire air - it's the best view in England according to James Herriot!
