About Gingerlily

Welcome to Gingerlily, an exquisite bijou barn conversion tucked away in the Howardian Hills - an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Just 30 minutes North of York, this romantic cottage ticks every box in terms of interiors, location and charm. It's the perfect choice for couples looking to escape to the country in style.

Gingerlily has a real chocolate box feel about it with its honey sandstone exterior and Farrow & Ball grey stable door. Reminiscent of Brittany-style gites, it's like discovering your own adult-sized fairy house at the bottom of the garden.

Step inside to find a stylish and elegant open plan living space home to the lounge, kitchen and dining area. High beamed ceilings, traditional Yorkshire flagstone floors, hues of grey and immaculate furnishings combine to give a sophisticated grown-up appeal.

In the lounge area there's a cosy wood burner to curl up beside and electric radiators throughout keeping the whole cottage nice and toasty. (A most generous basket of logs is provided and more available locally if needed).

You have the choice of a comfy sofa protected by a handsome stag or an armchair right in front of the fire. Settle down with a good book and a cup of Yorkshire tea for the afternoon. There's a flat screen TV and DVD player available and above the TV an antique cupboard is stocked full of DVDs and books for your entertainment.

The kitchen sits at the opposite end of the room and boasts beautiful white units, a polished walnut work surface and pretty porcelain sink. Making great use of the space you'll find everything you need to rustle up dinner with all the usual equipment provided. There's a dishwasher, induction hob, combined oven with microwave and fridge with ice-box freezer. A beautiful Swedish style cupboard houses crockery and glassware.

The gorgeous dining table sits by a large sash window looking out into the garden. Made from an old treadle sewing machine, it has a walnut surface to match the worktop. Take a seat on the Camargue chairs and enjoy the view.

Make your way through to find the bedroom, a surprisingly spacious and romantic room decorated in a French style. The star of the show is the beautiful antique French gilded bed with its ornate headboard, luxurious bed linen and plump velvet cushions. This bed is sized as a large double, so plenty of room to stretch out and relax. We also love the handsome Victorian mahogany Gentleman's wardrobe.

Another large sash window offers further views out into the garden and there's a window seat so you can take it all in. In the morning throw open the curtains, open the window and hop back into bed with the sound of birdsong to welcome in the day. Lovely polished floor boards and a fluffy rug feel warm underfoot when you get out of bed.

The bedroom enjoys an en-suite shower room with a walk-in shower, heated towel rail, sink and WC. Complimentary toiletries are provided as are fluffy white towels?.

There is much to enjoy outside this charming holiday home. A generous garden laid to lawn and bordered by flower beds offers plenty of space to throw out a picnic blanket and enjoy the Yorkshire sunshine. A pretty bench sits in front of the barn, the perfect spot for your morning coffee with the sights and sounds of nature all around you.

There's a mini orchard with plum and apple trees to wander around and wildlife abounds here! Birds, pheasants, Partridge and even the occasional deer can be spotted from the comfort of your garden. Patio furniture, and sun loungers are provided ? ideal to enjoy a balmy summers evening. And you're welcome to dip into the 7ft herb garden too.

Storage for bikes is available upon request, if you want to discover the stunning countryside here on wheels.

Gingerlily welcomes infants and can provide a travel cot if required.
