A fantastic comfortable base for a small group from days out in York, exploring the hills and trails of the North York Moors or coastline - There's something for everyone!
This lovely cottage is in a peaceful location in a sleepy village, just 18.5 miles from York. Tucked away down a quiet lane, you can enjoy the peace and quiet of a countryside location close to the River Derwent but still have the benefit of a pub just 2 miles away and a shop for your essentials 8 miles away. With plenty of space for up to four guests, this property has lots of stylish charm and is perfect for couples looking for a romantic getaway or for small families wanting to enjoy their first holiday together.
Pass through the wooden gate to park your car on the sweeping gravel driveway. You’ll walk past the wonderful private garden on the way to the front door, where you’ll step in to be greeted by a fresh and bright hall. Move through to the lounge, where calming, neutral decor blended with pastel blues and pine furniture creates a cosy atmosphere that’s perfect for snuggling up in the evening. Get cosy on the sofa and watch your favourite Netflix shows on the Smart TV, or curl up with a book. Look out for the intricate designs on the tiling in the ornamental fireplace that add a quirky touch.
Next door to the lounge is the spacious farmhouse-style kitchen, where soothing blue tones are carried through from the lounge into the tiling along with peaceful creams and whites. Beautiful wood-style worktops and rustic furniture welcome you into this room that is ideal as a social space as well as a room just for mealtimes. Cook up a storm for the whole family to eat at the rustic wooden dining table, or maybe snack on something from your welcome pack. Spend hours at the table chatting over a bottle of wine and a board game. Throw open the patio doors to the garden to let in lots of natural light, or maybe even dine alfresco on those warm summer nights.
The lush green lawn in the garden is a delight for four-legged family members or children who will love running around as you sit watching them from the wooden bench on the gravelled area. Carefully placed flowers and the neighbours’ mature trees create a peaceful atmosphere, where it’s just you, your family and the countryside around you.
Back inside, a bathroom completes the ground floor where pretty tiling creates a spa-like atmosphere; take an invigorating shower in the morning to set you up for the day or enjoy a long, hot soak in the bath to ease aches and pains after a day out walking.
When it’s time for bed, climb the stairs to two inviting bedrooms; the serene double bedroom harnesses countryside tones of yellow and white to promote a great night’s sleep, and there are stunning views of the fields beyond. The charming twin bedroom is also decorated in happy yellow tones and has a large window that lets in lots of natural light, but heavy curtains ensure that your sleep won’t be disturbed.
