About Little Windor

***Just Launched May 2018!***

Welcome to Little Windor, a very pretty stone-built cottage tucked away in gorgeous Middleham. Set just behind the market square, this 4-Star graded cosy cottage is the perfect base from which to explore the stunning Wensleydale countryside. Strike out for a walk from the doorstep and be welcomed home by a roaring open fire each evening. A little slice of Yorkshire holiday heaven.

Little Windor is an immaculate much-loved holiday home with a fantastic location in one of Yorkshire's prettiest villages. Bursting with period character inside and out, it's just the place for a week's R & R.

Inside you'll find a small entrance hall to hang up coats and pull off muddy walking boots. This leads into the spacious and light-filled lounge with warm wooden floorboards underfoot. Once the fire is roaring, take your pick from two comfy armchairs or a sofa to snuggle up on. For your evening entertainment there's a TV with Freeview and a DVD player if you want to bring your old favourites. Wi-Fi is also provided if you need to catch up online.

Make your way to the rear of the cottage to discover a generous and bright kitchen-dining room. This stylish and contemporary kitchen is a pleasure to cook and dine in. You'll find elegant shaker-style units well stocked with all the usual equipment and utensils. Pick up some fresh Yorkshire produce from the excellent local deli in Leyburn and rustle up a hearty cooked breakfast, such a pleasure when there's nowhere you need to be.

You'll find all the usual mod-cons including an oven with ceramic hob, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, washing machine and microwave. Coffee lovers will also appreciate the Nespresso Coffee machine. The dining table sits by the back door and offers views out to the terrace garden.

Little Windor has two delightful bedrooms, both located on the first floor. The peaceful master bedroom sits at the front of the cottage and boasts a super-king size bed. This bed can also be configured as two full size singles if preferred. This room comes complete with a handy en-suite shower with a Mira Platinum digital shower. The second bedroom is tucked away to the rear of the property and is set up as a twin, however it can also offer a super-king size bed if preferred. Exposed original beams overhead lend period warmth to this lovely room. Just mind your head if you have this room set up as a super-king!

The family bathroom is also set on the first floor. For those of you who love a good hot soak at the end of a busy day, you'll enjoy finding a bath in here.

Outside Little Windor there is a pleasant terraced rear courtyard garden with partial views across the Wensleydale countryside. Patio furniture and a Gas BBQ are provided so you can take full advantage of the warm summer evenings. There's also a cushioned bench made for those evening sundowners. It's completely enclosed if you have a furry little friend with you and an outside tap allows you to wash them down (or your muddy walking boots)

There is normally on-road parking available immediately outside the cottage, and further free parking just 200 yards away in the market square.

Local Area

Little Windor is set just behind the market square in Middleham Wensleydale, one of Yorkshire's loveliest towns. Famous for its castle (once home to Richard III) it's also home to several race-horse trainers; you will see and hear the horses being lead through the village up to the gallops every day. And to top it off there is a lovely collection of pubs, cafes, restaurants and shops. We love it so much it features in our Top 10 Prettiest Yorkshire Villages - the perfect location for a holiday cottage!

Near the cottage is a charming tearooms if you fancy a treat at elevenses, and for dinner you can opt for pub grub at the Richard III traditional pub or perhaps some Italian food at the renowned White Swan. You can order a take-out pizza from here too. There's also a village store and a couple of bric-a-brac shops to mooch around. Just a few miles out of the village is the fantastic attraction The Forbidden Corner.  Regularly voted the best family attraction in Yorkshire, it's also well worth a look even if there are no children in your party.

In the opposite direction you'll find the charming market town of Leyburn.  Leyburn is an archetypical slice of Dales market town life.  You'll find traditional shops, pubs and cafes all gathered around the handsome town square, which hosts a busy market every Friday.  Leyburn is also home to the biggest auction centre outside of London if you fancy picking up a bargain.  The nearby historic town of Richmond is similar in many ways, and has a lovely setting along the River Swale.

There are lots of other pretty villages and stunning natural sights all within close range of Little Windor.  Aysgarth Falls and Bolton Castle are just a few miles away and the gorgeous villages of West Burton and Askrigg are within easy driving distance, so lots of choice for things to do if you want to get out and about.  If walking is your thing, the Yorkshire Dales are something of a walker's paradise.  And there are plenty of options for cycling too in Tour De France country.  Our concierge will be more than happy to recommend some walks and cycle routes for you if required.

And when you need to refuel stop at one of the areas many excellent gastro pubs.  Our favourites include the Wensleydale Heifer in West Witton and the Blue Lion at East Witton, all within a short drive of the cottage.
