Park Cottage is a stunning 3-bedroom holiday cottage set in a very pretty village in the Yorkshire Wolds, just ten minutes outside Beverley. Elegant, stylish interiors, a garden and hot-tub to die for and a fabulous foodie pub just a stone's throw from the cottage. So much to adore about this classic Yorkshire holiday cottage.
The first thing which strikes you about Park Cottage is the idyllic location. This area of the Yorkshire Wolds is peppered with very pretty villages and rolling mellow hills, and Hotham is no exception. Park Cottage sits right next to the gates of a gorgeous country estate, giving the cottage a grand and luxurious appeal right from the off-set.
Head inside and find a charming open plan sitting room and dining area. Bags of space for the whole family but when evening falls with the candles lit and the wood-burner glowing softly it is the ultimate cosy retreat.
Step through to the contemporary galley style kitchen which includes every mod-con you could wish for. You'll also find a very pleasant view out to the large garden at the rear. Ideal if you have little ones running around and want to keep one eye on their whereabouts.
There is also a delightful snug downstairs which doubles up as a children's playroom or a teenager's escape. Just opposite you'll find the family bathroom with its exquisite fixtures and fittings. A bath with a shower overhead is included, just perfect to sink into once the kids are asleep.
All of the bedrooms in the cottage are upstairs. A very sweet twin bedroom and a single bedroom sit side by side, both have room for a cot. At the end of the landing you'll find the large master bedroom. Bathed in light from double aspect windows it's a heavenly space to wake up in each morning. You won't want to get out of bed!
Outside Park Cottage the spacious vibe is continued. The stunning large garden is a real luxury and as it's completely enclosed it offers a generous and safe place for little ones to blow of some steam. And while they are doing that you can settle down on the patio furniture and enjoy a nice glass of something cold. In the evening take a dip in the hot-tub and enjoy a spot of star-gazing as the warm bubbles soothe away the stresses and strains of modern life.
The garden also includes a very handy pair of out-houses to store your bikes and prams etc. This area of the Wolds is perfect for cycling and with the quiet estate roads around the cottage is quite safe for youngsters too.
The cottage is set in the lovely estate village of Hotham in the Yorkshire Wolds. Typical of many of the villages in this area, Hotham is set right beside a grand country estate with acres of traditional English parkland to explore. It's perfect if you want to take your bike out or fancy a conker collecting expedition with the little ones in the Autumn months.
There is an excellent pub in the village [The Hotham Arms] and several more good dining pubs within a short drive. The landlord Joe is a real character in the area and he will ensure you arrive to a very warm welcome. We loved the open fires and candlelit ambiance inside. And if you feel like dining in we recommend the short trip to Drewtons Farm Shop, just a mile or so from the cottage. Stock up on the finest Yorkshire produce here, from excellent local beef to the most amazing pies and cakes. There is also a very good cafe here which is open 7 days a week.
Hotham is an ideal base from which to explore all that this area has to offer. The beautiful city of Beverley is just 10 minutes' drive from the cottage. Explore the stunning Beverley Minster before indulging in a spot of shopping around its lively cobbled squares. Finish off with a drink in Nellies, a traditional Yorkshire pub where time has stood still for decades.
And beyond the town, get to know the gorgeous Yorkshire Wolds, a range of low rolling hills rising from the river Humber and sweeping along to the stunning cliffs at Flamborough Head. The gentle nature of the countryside here makes it an excellent location for walking and cycling.
The Wolds are also home to many historical homes and religious sites as well as one of Yorkshire's largest lavender gardens. And for kids there are heaps of fantastic attractions nearby (indoor and out) including the excellent Yorkshire Wildlife Park and The Deep in Hull.
The Yorkshire Coast, North York Moors and beautiful city of York are also all within easy driving distance from Park Cottage and make for a great day trip.
