Set close to a peaceful 100-acre private estate, this property is a charming two-bedroom country cottage with attractive interiors and an idyllic rural location. Boasting everything you could need for a relaxing break in a picturesque corner of Yorkshire, the cottage is beautifully furnished and set betwixt the two grand Yorkshire Estates of Sandhall and Saltmarshe - the perfect escape to the country.

At the heart of the single-storey property is a welcoming living/dining room which has pretty pastel tones and a free-standing wood burner to make things nice and cosy. Take your pick from a choice of comfortable seating and settle down in front of the wall-mounted TV with DVD. There's a side table and chair which can double up as a desk if you can't bear to leave your laptop behind or want to write out some postcards to friends. Everyone can eat together at the oblong dining table and the comfortable high-backed chairs mean you can linger and chat a while after dinner.

Oakwood flooring continues from the living area into the large country kitchen next door where there are lots of chic units around this square-shaped room. You'll also find plenty of space on the solid wooden worktops to chop, grind, and mix, whether you are creating a light picnic lunch or a three-course gourmet dinner. Appliances available within this spacious family kitchen include a gas oven, and hob, fridge with freezer compartment, dishwasher, washing machine and microwave, plus an assortment of other pots, pans and utensils.

There are two bedrooms at the cottage which are both light and bright with neutral carpets and cream walls. The master bedroom has a king-sized bed and fitted wardrobes which provide plenty of storage to keep things tidied away. An en-suite shower room means you can roll straight out of bed for a refreshing morning shower before striking out for a day exploring the Wolds.

A second bedroom, this time a twin, is just down the hall with full-sized beds that are suitable for either children or adults who prefer their own space. A range of painted furniture provides lots of storage and a separate shower room can be easily accessed from this room.

Outside the cottage, there is a paved patio area with rattan furniture, so you can make the most of your lovely location and dine alfresco when the weather is clement.

The cottage has a peaceful rural location near to 100 acres of private park and farmland beside the River Ouse in Howdenshire. There is a myriad of tranquil river and parkland walks from the doorstep and you are surrounded by lush green landscapes at every turn. The charming market town of Howden is 4.5 miles away with its ancient streets, quaint shops, cafes, wine bars, Heritage Centre and historical buildings to explore. See if you can spot the tower of Howden Minster from the cottage.

Set right by the river, you can watch the tall masts of ships passing by on their way up the river to Goole. It's so peaceful here you just won't want to leave. There are wide paths for walkers/riders around the park, we recommend the river walk along to Blacktoft to the local pub for a bite of lunch, and there are lots more walks to try. And if you feel like dining in, we recommend the short trip to Howden where you can stock up on the finest Yorkshire produce, from excellent homemade bread to the most amazing pies and cakes. While you're there it would be a shame not to stop and enjoy a cup of tea and something sweet!

Howden is an ideal base from which to explore all that this area of Yorkshire has to offer. You are perfectly placed to explore York, the Wolds to the east and the North York Moors to the north. The beautiful city of Beverley is just 22 miles from the cottage. Explore the stunning Beverley Minster before indulging in a spot of shopping around its lively cobbled squares.

And further east, get to know the gorgeous Yorkshire Wolds, a range of low rolling hills rising from the River Humber and sweeping along to the stunning cliffs at Flamborough Head. This landscape was an inspiration to David Hockney with much of his work based on the countryside here. You can follow the Hockney Trail to discover the setting of some of his more famous works. Keen golfers will enjoy the local course just 5 miles away, and the gentle nature of the countryside here makes it an excellent location for walking and cycling.

The Wolds are also home to many historical homes and religious sites as well as one of Yorkshire's largest lavender gardens. And for kids, there are heaps of fantastic attractions nearby (indoor and out) including the excellent Yorkshire Wildlife Park (26.5 miles) and The Deep in Hull (30 miles).

There are some excellent bird watching sites within easy reach such as North Cave Wetlands (11 miles). The North York Moors and beautiful medieval City of York (24 miles) are also all within easy reach and make for a great day trip.

Spacious, warm and comfortable. Mince pies were a nice touch. It was perfect for a low key Christmas following the recent death of my father. Had hoped mum would stay over but she has mobility issues and the bathroom wasn't suitable for her. It was very quiet and peaceful and having a smart TV was a bonus at Christmas when the weather was bad.
