Set within the grounds of a prestigious North Yorkshire Estate, St Mary's Cottage enjoys the very best of both the North York Moors and the Yorkshire Coastline. Driving up to the cottage you have a sense that you are leaving the cares of the world far behind you. With its elevated and private position you can enjoy uninterrupted views of the moors and the sea for miles around.
As with many handsome Yorkshire Cottages of its type, St Mary's has been built using local stone given it a solid and timeless appeal. Step inside the little porch and discover an elegant open-plan living space with double aspect windows, heated oak flooring and a cosy wood-burner to keep you warm. You'll be supplied with as many logs as you need so you can bunker down every evening by the fire. There is also an LCD TV, DVD Player, and Wi-Fi available.
There's a lovely dining area set by the window and behind it a kitchen stocked with everything you could need for your stay; a washing machine, fridge (with a larger freezer in the outhouse), microwave and cooker. Rustle up an indulgent cooked breakfast before striking out for a walk among the hills.
Upstairs you'll find a large master bedroom complete with a king size bed and views out across the countryside to the sea. The bathroom sits next door, a bright and pleasant space complete with a bath to sink into every evening and a shower overhead.
Outside you'll find a large enclosed garden which boasts a well-kept lawn and sheltered patio, perfect for enjoying lunch al fresco in the warmer months or escaping to with a coffee and a good book. Patio furniture and a BBQ are supplied too. It's so peaceful out here, with only the sound of birdsong to keep you company. There is a tidy lean to with additional freezer space and a large lockable out-house which is perfect for bike storage. And this is great cycling country!

With long sandy beaches and all the traditional seaside trimmings of yesteryear, you can indulge in a classic English seaside holiday. That's not to say it's stuck in the past, in fact the Yorkshire Coast's villages and towns combine the traditional with the contemporary effortlessly, with trinket shops and tea rooms sitting alongside up-market restaurants and champagne bars.
Sandsend is a gorgeous little seaside village within easy reach of the cottage. With its handsome promenade, long stretch of beach, several excellent eating options and world class day Spa, you could happily spend a day there.
St Mary's Cottage is also just a few miles from the beautiful town of Whitby. With its wonderful seaside heritage, excellent restaurants, independent shops and host of bars and cafes along its medieval streets, it has so much to offer the discerning holidaymaker. It's also well worth striking out to sample some of the other coastal villages nearby. Robin Hood's Bay is one of the most popular coastal locations in Yorkshire, or the UK for that matter. The village is a maze of cobbled streets and higgledy piggledy houses which seem to tumble down towards the sea. Staithes and Runswick Bay are also all within easy driving distance, each with their own unique charm.
Head inland from the cottage and you can be in the heart of the North York Moors within minutes.
