Nestled within one of the prettiest corners of the North York Moors National Park, this beautiful two-bedroom luxury holiday cottage is a delicious blend of character, style and elegance. It's the perfect country retreat for couples and small families and also accepts two guests of the four-legged variety making it a great getaway for everybody.

Once the stable block for the local farmhouse, this period property has been given a 21st century makeover. The original stable doors have been lovingly restored and the exposed beams, stone walls, underfloor heating throughout give the property real character.

Step inside and you'll discover a luxury cottage which is surprisingly spacious. Natural light floods in and gives a bright, airy feel. The underfloor heating makes this room cosy and the kitchen is well stocked and includes everything you would expect of a cottage at this standard. There is a dishwasher, washer/dryer and children's crockery and cutlery too.

The kitchen leads on to the open-plan sitting room and dining area. A dramatic double-height room with a feature stone wall and timeless furniture. Settle down on the armchair with a good book or see what's on the movie channel that night. There are lots of extras to keep you entertained including the Smart TV and Wi-Fi. There is also a dining table here for you to enjoy a meal together.

On through to the bedrooms, both of which are on the same floor. There is a double and a king-size bedroom available, both of which boast heated flooring, stone walls, TVs and crisp bed linen. The shower room features a large walk-in shower and complimentary toiletries.

Outside the cottage you'll find a large lawned garden and stone patio. Garden furniture is provided so you can enjoy dining alfresco on those balmy summer days. The cottage is set in a peaceful hamlet, so if you want to enjoy some quality time in the countryside, this is the cottage for you.

The cottage is set in a pretty little hamlet (complete with a local pub) in the heart of the North York Moors National Park. This particular Dale is famed for its daffodil walk, when each spring, the river banks come alive with the yellow flowers, said to be planted originally by the monks who settled on this land many hundreds of years ago.

Lesser known that its Yorkshire cousin the Dales, the North York Moors are literally on your doorstep. This glorious expanse of heather-clad countryside is simply stunning, and it's well worth taking some time to explore it properly. The Moors cover an area of almost 600 square miles and like the Dales you can easily find yourself miles from anywhere relatively quickly. But there is something distinctly more civilised and less remote about the Moors. There is a sense of wilderness, particularly on top of the high central moorlands, but its cast in comforting soft focus.

If you enjoy donning the old walking boots and striking out into the countryside, this cottage has the perfect location. No need to get in the car at all, there are some breathtaking walking trails from the door. And the same is true for cycling. There are also countless chocolate-box villages to explore within a few miles including Hutton-le-Hole (6 miles), Rosedale Abbey (5.5 miles), Danby (9 miles) and Goathland (18.5 miles) to name just a few.

Close by, you also have the fantastic town of Helmsley (14 miles). At the heart of the town square is a statue of Lord Feversham, a distant ancestor of the current Lord who resides in Duncombe Park. This stunning baroque mansion sits on the outskirts of town and is a good choice for an afternoon's sightseeing. If you want to indulge some more architectural desires, the equally grand Nunnington Hall is 13.5 miles from the cottage and is another grand abode worth a peek.

Helmsley is packed with tearooms, cafes and organic delis, surrounded by some of the best gastropubs in the UK. And tucked alongside these culinary delights, are lots of unique shops, galleries and antique dealers, easily enough to build up an appetite for lunch. Alternatively, the neighbouring town of Pickering (16.5 miles) offers its own set of shops, cafes and restaurants. You're also close to Castle Howard (20 miles) and the Yorkshire coast, so there’s plenty to keep you entertained.

A cosy, well appointed cottage. Conveniently positioned for the Yorkshire Moors and coast, but also well placed for trips further afield, such as York.

Beautiful place to stay, well equipped and comfortable. Feels lovely and remote but also near enough the main road to be accessible to all areas. Don't be put off by there being a pub opposite - we had no noise issues at all and it provides lovely food at good price which you can collect it to eat in the property - lovely at the end of a busy day!!Read more Highly recommend. Cottage was good size, and well equipped and clean Great location. Garden is accessed by the courtyard and not directly by the garden which was a little frustrating for trips to garden with dogs. Overall a lovely week .

Lovely cottage, well equipped. Rural location, but within easy enough reach of coastal and inland attractions. Nice pub opposite for meals/drinks, and the Daffy cafe a short walk away for coffee/lunch. Lots of walks around the area. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, very relaxing and very comfortable.
