About The Copse
Welcome to The Copse, a stylish and contemporary 4-bedroom family holiday home set within the grounds of an historic manor house in Wharfedale. Every bedroom in this elegant property is en suite and has its own TV, and with a snug in addition to the formal lounge its perfect for those larger family get-togethers. Beautiful setting too on the edge of public woodlands, with a pub and Yorkshire farm shop/cafe within walking distance.
Set down a long driveway among lush green fields and woodlands, arriving at The Copse is something of a magical experience. The property exterior has a smart country lodge feel, giving way to a bright and modern interior. Subject to a complete refurbishment recently, the whole property is absolutely immaculate, with minimalist design combining perfectly with comfort and quality to give a luxury hotel vibe.
Downstairs there are two reception rooms, a spacious formal lounge with a cosy smaller snug at the opposite end of the house. The formal lounge comes complete with several comfy sofas to curl up on, and there's a large LCD TV to enjoy the latest movies on. Floor to ceiling windows in here afford uninterrupted views out to the lovely mature gardens. The snug boasts a wood-burner and its own TV and is the perfect option for those late evening catch-ups over a glass of wine or two. It's also great for teenagers looking to escape the adults for a few hours. Wi-Fi is provided throughout too.
The kitchen sits at the heart of the home. Again continuing in the modernist style, you'll find sleek granite work-tops and glossy white units well equipped with everything you'll need. There's a dishwasher (an essential with a larger group!) and the washing machine & dryer are housed in a separate utility to the rear. The kitchen island includes a breakfast bar to perch at; perfect for those pre-dinner glasses of fizz. The dining room sits next to the kitchen, and with its feature fireplace is an atmospheric space to enjoy a laughter-filled family dinner.
All 4 bedrooms are upstairs and are accessed via two different staircases. On the right hand side of the property there's a large master bedroom boasting a king-size bed and en suite shower room. Next door to this is a twin bedroom, this time with an en suite bathroom, ideal for bathing younger children. Up the second set of stairs at the other side of the house you'll find another bedroom with a double bed and en suite shower room. There's also another twin room, again with an en suite bathroom. This room also features a large dressing area and wardrobe space. All 4 bedrooms have the same contemporary style, their own TVs and are dressed in the finest crisp white bed linen.
Lots to explore outside this property too, including a beautiful garden to the side boasting many mature trees and shrubs. A sheltered patio area includes garden furniture for up to 8 people, just waiting for those al fresco family lunches that make self-catering holiday so memorable. And for some chill out time, book yourself a slot on the large contemporary garden swing chair. Definitely the place to escape to with a good book. And when the kids start getting restless, take them for a wander through the woods and reintroduce them to Mother Nature, Yorkshire style!
The Copse is set within the grounds of a large manor house in Wharfedale, just a few miles South of the gorgeous Victorian Spa town of Harrogate. With open countryside and woodland all around, there is a liberating sense of getting away from it all, but with the comfort of knowing the comforts of town life are within easy reach.
Less than half a mile away you'll find a pub and the excellent Local Pantry, a cafe / deli / farmshop featuring the very best of local Yorkshire produce. Within easy walking distance it's a nice option for lunch if you don't feel like cooking one day.
There are several lovely market towns close to The Copse, with perhaps Ilkley offering the most to enjoy. Highly regarded for its stylish architecture and beautiful floral displays, there's plenty to see and do in this elegant Victorian town. Take a turn around the gardens down by the river, indulge in afternoon tea at Betty's, explore the many independent shops and boutiques, making sure you pick up something yummy for tea and the several up-market delis in town. And for the nights when cooking seems like too much effort, book dinner in the Michelin-starred Box Tree or head for an Italian on the cool roof Terrace of Piccolinos.
If you want to venture a little further The Copse is ideally placed to explore the historic market town of Skipton and the exquisite Yorkshire Dales beyond. It's a true walker's paradise here and you are very close to the famous Three Peaks of Ingleborough, Pen-y-ghent and Whernside.
If you're more of a roamer than a rambler try a stroll around the grounds of nearby Bolton Abbey. These striking ruins provide the backdrop to a particularly beautiful part of the Dales and are well worth a visit. Top it off with dinner in the Burlington restaurant found in the Devonshire Arms close to the Abbey.
This area of the Yorkshire Dales is home to many charming villages and towns worth exploring. The pretty cobbled streets of Grassington are close by, with the village of Kettlewell just a little further. Take the high ground up and across to Wensleydale where you will discover the picture post-card village of West Burton and the beautiful Aysgarth Falls.
And visiting the gorgeous town of Harrogate is a must during your stay here. Encircled by its famous 'Stray' or '1,000 acres' of horseshoe shaped grassland, Harrogate has a bright and breezy open air feel and is characterised by its impressive floral displays. As you would expect of such a bustling upbeat town, Harrogate boasts over 300 bars and restaurants together with all the shops, swimming pools, cinemas, parks and gardens you could ever wish for.
