Welcome to The Platform, a unique and seriously stylish 2-bedroom holiday home just 4 miles from the delights of Spa town Harrogate. With its chic look, contemporary comforts and gorgeous location this is the perfect Yorkshire Cottage for a grown-up escape.
As the name suggests, this luxury holiday cottage is set on what was once a railway station platform. Reminders of its heritage can be found all around giving the cottage a comforting sense of history and charm. All of the accommodation in The Platform is set on one level, making it a good choice for those with reduced mobility.
Inside you'll find a stunning open-plan living area housing the lounge, kitchen and dining area. There's warm wooden flooring throughout and lovely views of the surrounding countryside are afforded from the floor to ceiling bi-folding doors. The lounge includes a feature wall filled with sporting memorabilia giving the room a real sense of character and fun. At the centre of this space is a cosy and contemporary wood-burning stove, pop on your PJs and curl up beside it with a nice glass of red or two. There are plenty of comfy spots to claim as your own and with a large LCD TV / DVD Player, Freeview, MP3 player and Wi-Fi there's plenty to keep you entertained. And if you prefer to unplug for a bit, you'll find plenty of board games and books to enjoy.
Sitting beside the lounge is the fabulous kitchen, complete with a NEFF induction hob, Siemen's microwave/oven, dishwasher and large fridge/freezer. You'll love the sleek white Corian work-tops and the kitchen cupboards are well-stocked with everything you'll need. There's also a breakfast bar, just the spot for a bacon sandwich or pre-dinner glass of bubbly. And for more substantial meals the separate contemporary dining table is just right. There isn't a washing machine however access to washing facilities are available at the property.
There are two bedrooms in The Platform, a very sweet twin room and the main bedroom which is semi open-plan from the lounge. This room features a king-size bed to stretch out on and is found to the right of the living space, separated by the memorabilia wall. The stunning family bathroom / wet-room sits beside the twin bedroom and boasts a double walk-in shower and WC. Underfloor heating in here is a welcome addition.
There is much to enjoy outside too including a landscaped garden with lawn and a special spot to enjoy a sundowner. In the summer months throw open the bi-folding doors to bring the outside into the living area. Rustle up lunch to enjoy al fresco on the decked terrace, looking down over the old railway line and the Nidderdale countryside beyond.
Overlooking ancient woodland with an abundance of wildlife, indeed expect to see deer passing through whilst you have a perfect viewing 'platform'. There's also a comfortable bench to enjoy your morning coffee on. Glimpses of the old railway signals bring back pleasant memories of its former life.
The Platform welcomes babes-in-arms and children over the age of 8.
The Platform offers best of both worlds, the peace and tranquillity of the Yorkshire Dales countryside with the cosmopolitan delights of Harrogate less than 15 minutes away. There's also a pretty little village within walking distance which is home to a delightful Coffee Shop/Bistro, village store, P.O. & G.P.
This stunning cottage has an idyllic location set within the lush green countryside of breathtaking Nidderdale, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty immediately situated on the Nidderdale Way for those keen walkers and adjacent to the Yorkshire Dales National Park. As well as a decent local pub about 10 minutes' walk away, there are bags of local attractions and stunning natural sights within easy driving distance including the fabulous Brimham Rocks and famous Three Peaks of Whernside, Ingleborough and Pen-y-Ghent. And with miles of stunning walks and mountain bike trails literally from the doorstep, the cottage is heaven for lovers of all things outdoors.
There are countless charming Yorkshire towns and villages close by including Pateley Bridge and Ilkely where you'll find among other delights the oldest sweet shop in England, a Michelin-starred restaurant and the quintessentially Yorkshire tea-room Bettys. Indulge in a buttery Fat Rascal here before a pleasant stroll along the River Wharfe.
And no trip to this corner of Yorkshire would be complete without a day out in Harrogate. This elegant Victorian Spa town is bursting at the seams with antique shops, cafes, independent boutiques and restaurants. And the RHS Gardens at Harlow Carr are a must see too.
And for eats you'll find no shortage of excellent gastro pubs and restaurants in the area, including the fantastic Timble Inn, this luxury 5 Star Inn/restaurant dates back to the 18th Century and is set in the beautiful Washburn Valley just a few minutes from the cottage. And there are many more fantastic restaurants, cafes and on-the-pulse Delis in Harrogate itself.
