About The Treehouse

Welcome to the fabulous Treehouse. This gorgeously romantic stone barn is absolutely perfect for couples looking for something extra special, like a hot tub in a treehouse for starters! Beautiful interiors, a stunning setting and an excellent foodie pub a stone's throw away complete the package.

Honeymooners, romantics or those who enjoy an adventure will fall in love this luxury Yorkshire Cottage. Recently subject to an elegant make-over, The Treehouse is the perfect size for two. The sense of quality is evident from the moment you walk through the door, from the beautiful stone floors to the exposed walls, original beams and sumptuous furnishings.

At the heart of the cottage you'll find a peaceful and stylish open plan living space encompassing the lounge and kitchen / dining space. In the kitchen soft cream units and a sleek black work-top make this space a pleasure to cook in. A breakfast bar style table and stools offer the perfect place to tuck into a hearty cooked breakfast, or perch with a glass of bubbly in the evenings before dinner.

A washing machine and dryer is available on site if you need it during your stay.

In the lounge there's a comfortable cream sofa to snuggle up on. A real-flame effect fire keeps you nice and toasty while you settle down to watch a movie. A Freeview TV, DVD player and Wi-Fi are also provided.

Step through the original arched doors into the bedroom, a dramatic and beautiful room with soft accents of cream and blue. A handsome king-size size 4 poster bed rests in the middle of the room with an en suite walk-in monsoon shower next door.

Let's go back outside and into the garden to discover the real star of the show, a fully functioning bubbling hot-tub set high up into the branches of a tree! This fabulous location affords stunning views of the surrounding countryside, and you are perfectly secluded in your tub allowing you to enjoy it without a care in the world. With fairy lights twinkling in the tree at night, what could be a more romantic end to the evening...

To the front of the cottage is a large shared courtyard, another very pleasant and sheltered space to settle down with the papers. Beyond the gardens guests are more than welcome to walk around the estate and meet the local wildlife. The cross-country walk by the church and down to the village pub is highly recommended!

Local Area

The Treehouse has a beautiful location set within a large estate on the cusp of the Yorkshire Dales. With less than an hour's drive to the coast and the City of York it's an ideal basecamp from which to strike out and discover these unique Yorkshire locations. Reeth and the stunning landscapes of Swaledale and Arkengarthdale are also within easy reach, and its well-placed for a day trip over the Lakes if you want to explore there too.

The property is set on the edge of a very pretty village. There's a great dining pub just a short walk away and if you're a bit of a foodie there are several more excellent dining pubs in the area including The Morritt Arms Hotel, the Black Bull at Moulton and the Shoulder of Mutton at Middleton Tyas.  Mainsgill, an award winning Deli, tea-room and farm shop is also just minutes from the house. It's also the perfect location if you enjoy walking. There are lots of beautiful walks from the doorstep and in fact its well-known as a great starting point for walking - seasoned walkers come from miles around to set off from the village.

This stunning Yorkshire Cottage is just a few miles away from Richmond, an historic market town with much to offer the discerning holiday-maker.  Explore the cobbled market square or head up towards Richmond Castle for a slice of Yorkshire history.  Just a short drive through Richmond takes you into the heart of the Yorkshire Dales proper.  Head up towards Reeth and on towards Hawes in Wensleydale for a true taste of this magnificent countryside.  Stop at the Wensleydale Heiffer for lunch before heading back to the comfort of your cosy cottage.

North of the cottage is the charming town of Barnard Castle. Recently listed as one of the top 10 places to live in the UK, it's a pretty little place with a host of shops, cafes and pubs to explore. The excellent Bowes Museum is here and is well worth a visit. And as the name would suggest there's an historic castle to explore too.

Further south, you'll find the pretty market town of Northallerton where handsome Georgian houses line the long main street.  The wonderful Betty's Tearooms is here as is a fantastic local deli, Lewis & Cooper's Food Emporium and of course the quintessentially Yorkshire department store of Barkers.

To take in the North York Moors head further south still and brave it up Sutton Bank, the view from the top said by some to be the finest in all of England.  The gorgeous market town of Helmsley makes for the perfect pit-stop and if you feel like something special for lunch make your way to the Star Inn at Harome.

And if you feel like a spot of pampering, there's also a fantastic Spa just a few miles down the road.
