Welcome to White Cottage, a stylish and very spacious 2-bedroom luxury holiday home set in Middleham, one of the Yorkshire Dales prettiest villages. Bright elegant interiors combined with an idyllic location make it the perfect choice for couples and small families alike.
Just a stone's throw from the market square in this gorgeous little village (famous for its racehorse stables) you'll find the handsome double-fronted exterior of White Cottage. Step inside to discover a contemporary light-filled home which welcomes you in from the moment you open the door.
As you enter the cottage the generous living room is set to the left. This peaceful room has double aspect windows and a cosy wood-burning stove at its heart. You have the choice of a comfy sofa and two armchairs to curl up on. Grab a glossy magazine, settle down by the fire and enjoy an afternoon all to yourself in here. For your entertainment, there is a large wall-mounted SMART TV with Freeview, Netflix and built in radio.
To the right as you enter is the open plan dining and kitchen area. Again, lots of space to enjoy and light streams through the large sash window to the front. The kitchen has a charming country cottage feel with its cream units and wooden work-top. The cupboards are well equipped with everything you'll need to cook up a storm, and all the usual mod cons are provided including a dishwasher and large fridge-freezer.
On a sunny day the ornate circular dining table is bathed in sunlight and is a delightful place to dine whatever the time of day. Take your time over the morning papers in here, or plan which Yorkshire attractions to visit over a glass of wine..
Both bedrooms in White Cottage are upstairs and both are set at the front of the cottage. The master bedroom features a super-comfy king-size bed dressed in the finest crisp white bed linen. An easy chair sits by the original fireplace, it's a great spot to just sit and watch the racehorses make their way to and from the gallops each day.
The second bedroom sits opposite and boasts a super-king size bed which will be set up as two singles unless you request it to be a double. Elegant colours and sumptuous furnishings continue the luxurious feel. There is a further snug room upstairs set to the rear of the cottage, the ideal place to squirrel yourself away in with a good book.
The house bathroom is also upstairs. It comes complete with a bath and shower overhead, perfect if you fancy an indulgent hot soak after a day's walking in the Dales. Fluffy white bath robes are provided for that luxury hotel vibe.
Outside White Cottage you'll find a sheltered attractive rear courtyard garden, a real sun trap in the summer months. It's completely enclosed so very safe if you have little ones with you. Outdoor furniture is provided if you fancy lunch al fresco. And if you want to stretch your legs just a few minutes' walk takes you out into the glorious Wensleydale countryside!
Please note there is a dedicated off road parking space provided for White Cottage.
Please note this property requires payment of a £150 security deposit.
White Cottage is set in the heart of Middleham village in Wensleydale, one of Yorkshire's loveliest villages. Famous for its castle (once home to Richard III) it's also home to several race-horse trainers; you will see and hear the horses being lead through the village up to the gallops every day. And to top it off there is a lovely collection of pubs, cafes, restaurants and shops. We love it so much it features in our Top 10 Prettiest Yorkshire Villages - the perfect location for a holiday cottage!
The village features a charming tearoom if you fancy a treat at elevenses, and for dinner you can opt for pub grub at the Richard III traditional pub or perhaps some Italian food at the renowned White Swan. You can order a take-out pizza from here too. There's also a village store and a couple of bric-a-brac shops to mooch around. Just a few miles out of the village is the fantastic attraction The Forbidden Corner. Regularly voted the best family attraction in Yorkshire, it's also well worth a look even if there are no children in your party.
In the opposite direction you'll find the charming market town of Leyburn. Leyburn is an archetypical slice of Dales market town life. You'll find traditional shops, pubs and cafes all gathered around the handsome town square, which hosts a busy market every Friday. Leyburn is also home to the biggest auction centre outside of London if you fancy picking up a bargain. The nearby historic town of Richmond is similar in many ways, and has a lovely setting along the River Swale.
There are lots of other pretty villages and stunning natural sights all within close range of White Cottage. Aysgarth Falls and Bolton Castle are just a few miles away and the gorgeous villages of West Burton and Askrigg are within easy driving distance, so lots of choice for things to do if you want to get out and about. If walking is your thing, the Yorkshire Dales are something of a walker's paradise. And there are plenty of options for cycling too in Tour De France country. Our concierge will be more than happy to recommend some walks and cycle routes for you if required.
And when you need to refuel stop at one of the areas many excellent gastro pubs. Our favourites include the Wensleydale Heifer in West Witton and the Blue Lion at East Witton, all within a short drive of the cottage.
