What’s on – Easter in Yorkshire 2018

Find out what's on for Easter in Yorkshire 2018

There’s a range of things to see and do around Yorkshire this Easter – an egg-cellent selection in fact! Take a look at What’s on in Yorkshire for Easter 2018…

Mother Shipton’s Cave

This popular Knareborough attraction will be transformed into a Peter Rabbit wonderland for Easter. Children can follow a trail through the woods that’s filled will characters from Beatrix Potter’s classic stories.

National Trust

The National trust sites in Yorkshire include Fountains Abbey, Beningbrough Hall and Nunnington Hall. You’ll find Easter activities at them all with egg hunts, races and crafts amongst the activities on offer. All have lots of space for little (and larger) legs to run round and let off some steam.

Theme Parks

There’s a couple of great theme parks in North Yorkshire and though they have been closed for winter the doors will open again in time for Easter. Lightwater Valley reopens on the 28th March and Flamingo Land reopens on 24th March. Both have plenty of rides and attractions so there’s something to keep children of all ages happy!

Easter Adventure Quests

Whitby Abbey was the inspiration for dracula

You can head to either Whitby or Scarborough Abbey this Easter to solve clues and hunt for legendary dragon eggs around the grounds. The action at both Abbeys takes place this Easter from 30th March – 2nd April.

Sledmere House

The beautiful Sledmere House in the Yorkshire Wolds is holding an Eggscellent Easter Weekend from 30th March to 2nd April. The new ‘Spotted Pig Play Park’ will be opening on the grounds and there will be activities including a family bike ride egg hunt.

Castle Howard Easter Holiday Fun

There are magic shows and workshops with WonderPhil (apparently a sidekick of Santa) at Castle Howard. There’s also an Easter Egg hunt around the gorgeous grounds where several birds need reuniting with their eggs and a boat tour of the great lake.

The wonderful lakes and gardens at Castle Howard

York Chocolate Festival

This annual festival dedicated to chocolate will be bigger and better than even before. Taking place in Parliament Street from 29th March to 2nd April you’ll find tastings, craft chocolatiers and demonstrations. All things chocolatey in fact! Also in York over Easter is a fun fair and children’s activities including a Bunny Trail through the city.

Forbidden Corner

This fabulous attraction near Middleham will be open once more from the 29th March 2018. You never quite know what you’ll find lurking behind each corner – the best thing to do is start exploring! A perfect day out for the family for the Easter holidays but you will have to book in advance.

Middleham Open Day

Middleham Open Day is a fantastic opportunity to look around 12 racing yards and see racehorses up close. This year the Middleham Open Day is on 30th March 2018 and there will also be gift stalls, a fox hounds parade and jumping demonstrations taking place in the very pretty Wensleydale village of Middleham throughout the day.

Middleham is famous as the epi-centre of Yorkshire race-horse training. You can watch and listen to the jockeys taking the horses up to the gallops every day.
