There’s plenty to see and do in Yorkshire this July from quirky village events to food festivals and music concerts. Here’s a look at just some of things to try:
Grassington Festival – 16th June – 1st July
This festival in the Dales has a packed 15-day programme that includes everything from musical performances (the highlight is Jools Holland with his rhythm and blues band) to walking tours of the area. You can even attend a beginner’s guide to Dry Stone Walling.
Duncombe Park Steam Festival – 1st and 2nd July
You can see full-size and miniature steam engines along with an assortment of commercial vehicles, tractors and classic cars in the stunning surroundings of Duncombe Park near Helmsley. There’s also a bar, refreshments and evening entertainment.
Malton Show – 2nd July
This annual show takes place at Scampston Park and includes sheepdog trials, a miniature railway, food stalls and an array of vintage tractors and machinery.
Twelfth Night at Helmsley Castle – 7th July
Three Inch Fools are a group of 5 actors who perform imaginative, musical versions of classic plays and will be putting their spin on Twelfth night for an evening performance at Helmsley Castle. Perfect for a summer’s evening picnic!
Kilburn Feast – 7th – 9th July
This traditional annual festival has taken place in the pretty village of Kilburn for hundreds of years and the main Sunday event includes a duck race, road race, clown shop and a parade by the Lord Mayor and the Lady Mayoress.
Slingsby Duck Race and Family Day – 8th July
A popular annual event in the village of Slingsby, the Duck Race sees hundreds of rubber ducks released into the beck to see whose duck will reach the finish line first. There’s also a range of children’s entertainment with a bouncy castle and face painting.
Great Yorkshire Show – 11th – 13th July
This fabulous 3-day show includes everything from a home and gift hall to cooking demonstrations. There will be a range of agricultural displays, shopping galore, a gin & prosecco bar and Gorgeous Cottages! Come and pay us a visit in the shedding on President’s Avenue and you could win a fabulous weekend at Lawn House.
Deershed Festival – 21st – 23rd July
An annual family friendly festival that takes place in the lovely setting of Baldersby Park in topcliffe. The diverse programme includes music, comedy and a range of children’s activities to keep even the fussiest of kids entertained.
SeaFest Maritime Festival – 21st – 23rd July
Taking place on Scarborough’s South Bay, SeaFest includes live cooking displays, a music and ale tent, maritime heritage displays and free tours on the Royal Navy HMS Trumpeter & Puncher.
Yorkshire Dales Food and Drink Festival 22nd and 23rd July
This popular weekend food festival in Skipton includes demonstrations from top chefs John Torode and James Martin plus a range of foodie stalls. You can browse, sample and purchase a range of delicious treats from local producers while listening to some great live music.
Ryedale Show – 25th July
The Ryedale Show is held in Welburn Park which has a natural amphitheatre and has eight rings running throughout the day along with around 200 trade stalls.
