A Taste of Honey | 27th Mar to 24th May | Various locations
One of the headline events of the 100 Day Cultural Festival, this taboo-breaking play is said to be one of the most influential pieces of theatre of its era. It’s hard-nosed stuff, but an engaging and fresh drama well worth seeing. Further info: http://festival.yorkshire.com/events/a-taste-of-honey
The Woolly Bike Trail Workshops | Dates throughout April | Various locations
Another headline event of the Cultural Festival, the woolly bike trail is exactly what is implies. Art and Yorkshire: From Turner to Hockney | 12th April – 12th Oct | Mercer Gallery Harrogate
A rare opportunity to view the work of Yorkshire’s most celebrated artists. Worth the trip alone to see work from Hockney which is not usually in the public view. A fascinating and well put together exhibition placing past masters and contemporary artists on the same stage. York is, amongst other things, the spiritual home of British Chocolate. The Nestle Factory on the outskirts of the city still produces up to 6 millon Kit-Kats per day! No wonder the city even smells like chocolate. Head over to York for the festival celebrating this fact, and expect to go up a few dress sizes while you’re there.
