What’s on in Yorkshire – May 2014
The Dales Festival of Food & Drink [3-5th May – Leyburn]
Ooh I’m getting hungry just thinking about this one. The Dales Festival of Food & Drink is a riot of food stalls, music and beer. And there are lots of fun things for little ones too if you’re thinking of bringing the family. A lovely day out and a chance to gorge oneself on yummy Yorkshire produce.
The Swaledale Festival [24th May – 7th June]
A firm favourite on the Yorkshire calendar this one. This festival of music and walking offers a full program of events from folk and jazz concerts to a guided stroll taking in Swaledale’s gorgeous scenery. And this is the best time of year to catch Swaledale’s infamous wild-flower meadows…
The Yorkshire Festival [Various]
Yorkshire’s landmark 100 day festival leading up to the Tour De France Grand Depart continues in earnest this month, with lots of events and sculptural pieces popping up across the county. Check out the website for full details: www.festival.yorkshire.com
Duncombe Park Country Fair [26th May]
A real traditional Yorkshire country fair with bags of events and things to see and do. Catch everything from ferret and terrier racing to farmers markets and craft fairs, and of course have a go on the traditional rides. Family-fun in a grand and gorgeous setting.
Castle Howard – Flower Festival [15th & 16th May]
This stunning baroque mansion will be filled with flowers of all colours and sizes over the course of the two days. And it’s an opportunity to discover the magnificent gardens and grounds of Castle Howard in full Spring bloom.
