#01 The Wensleydale Heifer
As you’d expect from the name this well-loved restaurant is set in the heart of Wensleydale, in the pretty village of West Witton. The Wensleydale Heifer offers roasted local meats along with some fishy alternatives (it’s renowned for its seafood). Make sure you leave room for a scrumptious dessert!
#02 The Durham Ox at Crayke
The dog friendly Durham Ox at Crayke dates back around 300 years and has been run by the same family for the last 18 years. It’s situated on an ancient Celtic track-way with panoramic views over the Vale of York. Sunday lunch options include a 28 day aged prime fillet Chateaubriand and you can even get ‘foody’ wines by the glass.
#03 The Star Inn at Harome
You can combine a visit to the Star Inn at Harome with a Sunday mooch round Helmsley and it’s up to you whether you go for a Star Inn Sunday Roast or something a little different at this Michelin Starred Yorkshire Restaurant.
The building dates back to the 14th century and we loved the thatched roof, wonky walls and chunky beams
#04 The Timble Inn
The Grade II listed Timble Inn is a traditional coaching inn that dates back to the 18th century. Located in Nidderdale’s beautiful Washburn Valley it’s a scenic spot for Sunday lunch. The menu includes traditional Sunday lunch options along with alternatives like Fish Pie but the star of the show is the 40 Day Aged Sirloin of Beef (with Yorkshire Pudding of course).
#05 The Fat Badger
The Fat Badger is a Two AA Rosette restaurant that’s located in the historic spa town of Harrogate. They specialise in traditional British food so this olde-world style dining pub is a great choice for a Sunday lunch. Choose from two or three courses, made with fresh, local ingredients.
#06 The Copper Horse
Stylish bar and restaurant, The Copper Horse is located in Seamer near the Yorkshire Coast. You’ll find wholesome home cooked food and a selection of local ales on the menu. There’s a mixed plate roast on the menu too (served with stuffing, crackling and a Yorkshire pudding) – perfect if you can’t decide which meat you want to go for!

It’s hard to beat the stunning setting of The Lister Arms in Malham. This dog-friendly dining pub is the perfect place to enjoy Sunday lunch after a walk in the Yorkshire Dales. Sunday lunch comes with all the trimmings and four-legged friends will be treated to a home-made biscuit.

Enjoy juicy cuts of meat from the local butcher served with lashings of gravy at The Star. #09 The Bay Tree York
This country pub and restaurant is located in the village of Stillington (around 10 miles from York) and offers ‘Elegant and affordable food’ by a chef who previously worked at The Pipe and Glass. It’s a great choice for gin lovers – they now offer 100 different types on the menu.
