Property code: G0142

Set on the cusp of a pretty village in the Yorkshire Dales is this a gorgeous three-bedroom barn conversion. A fabulous interior includes Farrow & Ball colours throughout, feature beds and a roaring open fire to curl up in front of. A wood-burning hot tub in the garden keeps everyone nice and toasty outside too. As the name suggests, this charming stone barn was once home to the local cattle on the estate. It has since been transformed into a stylish and elegant family holiday home.

Entering the property from the rear, you step into a spacious and dramatic sitting room. Accents of grey and purple give this room a luxurious and atmospheric appeal. Light up the fire and snuggle up on one of two large comfortable sofas, the perfect place to relax after a busy day's sightseeing in Yorkshire. There's an LCD TV with DVD player in here, and Wi-Fi is included throughout. Books and board games are provided for some offline family fun.

The kitchen sits next door and echoes the same stylish appeal. Chic stone-colour units gather around a dining table with quirky handmade barrel stools underneath. The cupboards are fully-equipped with everything you'll need for your stay and a dishwasher is included for your convenience.

There are three bedrooms in the property, each with their own unique feature beds and personality. The first bedroom is on the ground floor. This generous room boasts a fabulous king-size four-poster bedstead and a wow-factor wet room set into the corner of the room. The remaining bedrooms are both upstairs. Bedroom two features a king-size French bed with exposed beams overhead. The final bedroom is a stunning room with exposed stone walls and a fabulous four-poster bed. There is a further wet room-style bathroom with a walk-in shower and WC.

The Dairy Shed offers much to enjoy outside too. To the rear, you have a charming enclosed courtyard with outdoor furniture, fairy lights and a BBQ, the perfect location for those al fresco dinners in summer. The courtyard is also home to the log-burning hot tub which is exclusively for guests use and available throughout the year.

To the front of the barn is a large shared courtyard, another very pleasant and sheltered space to settle down with the papers. Beyond the gardens, guests are more than welcome to walk around the estate and meet the local wildlife. The cross-country walk by the church and down to the village pub is also highly recommended. For little ones, there is a play area just a few hundred yards from the barn.

The property has a beautiful location set within a large estate on the cusp of the Yorkshire Dales. With a 50-mile drive to the coast and the City of York, it's an ideal basecamp from which to strike out and discover these unique Yorkshire locations. Reeth (15 miles) and the stunning landscapes of Swaledale and Arkengarthdale (both 24 miles) are also within easy reach, and you are well-placed for a day trip over the Lakes if you want to explore there too.

The property is set on the edge of a very pretty village. There's a great dining pub just a short walk away and if you're a bit of a foodie there are several more excellent dining pubs in the area as well as a deli, tea room and farm shop a couple of miles from the house. It's also the perfect location if you enjoy walking. There are lots of beautiful walks from the doorstep and the village is well known as a great starting point for walking - seasoned walkers come from miles around to set off from the village.

This stunning Yorkshire cottage is just 4 miles away from Richmond, a historic market town with much to offer the discerning holidaymaker. Explore the cobbled market square or head up towards Richmond Castle for a slice of Yorkshire history. Just a short drive through Richmond takes you into the heart of the Yorkshire Dales proper. Head up towards Reeth and on towards Hawes in Wensleydale for a true taste of this magnificent countryside.

North of the cottage is the charming town of Barnard Castle (12 miles). Recently listed as one of the top 10 places to live in the UK, it's a pretty little place with a host of shops, cafes and pubs to explore. The excellent Bowes Museum is here and is well worth a visit. And as the name would suggest there's a historic castle to explore too.

Further south, you'll find the pretty market town of Northallerton (20 miles) where handsome Georgian houses line the long main street. The wonderful Betty's Tearooms is here as is a fantastic local deli, Lewis & Cooper's Food Emporium and of course the quintessentially Yorkshire department store of Barkers.

To take in the North York Moors, head further south still and brave it up Sutton Bank, the view from the top said by some to be the finest in all of England. If you feel like a spot of pampering, there's also a fantastic spa just a few miles down the road.

Stayed for New Year a party of 6 adults, 3 couples. Had a lovely stay. Well equpped with what you need however would reccomend to put a dvd player in and something to play music on. Maybe have sky tv installed as not many channels. Would look at replacing the wood burning hot tub with a proper hot tub as it was too much messing around keep putting Read morewood in the burner.
