This pretty stone-built cottage is set in a peaceful location between Harrogate and Otley. Situated alongside the owners’ home on their non-working farm, you can enjoy the wonderful footpaths accessible from the front door as well as the stunning meadow grassland that you’re welcome to explore. With plenty of space for up to four guests, this charming property invites you into a welcoming home-from-home with your creature comforts, all with fantastic views of the countryside around you.
Head up the terrace steps and into the cottage where you’re greeted with a bright hallway to hang up your coats. Move through to the lovely open-plan living area, where soothing pastel colours blended with vaulted ceilings, wooden beams and a fantastic stone fireplace create a rustic farmhouse-style atmosphere that’s ideal for snuggling up in after a long day of exploration. Patio doors to the terrace and double aspect windows mean it’s also perfect for those sunny mornings; sit around the dining table at breakfast and plan your adventures or recline on the chair with a book to start your day off gently. Watch your favourite films on the TV/DVD or chill out with some music through the Bluetooth speaker in the evening. Chat with the chef as they cook in the kitchen area where they’ll find everything they need to cook up a storm. Stylish wooden cabinets, marble-effect worktops and neutral textured tiles offer a contemporary take on the farmhouse-style kitchen, with lots of quaint finishing touches adding to the appeal.
Off the entrance hall, the shower room welcomes you in for a refreshing shower among calming neutral tones; there’s also a washing machine in here so there’s no need to worry if you get a bit muddy out on a walk.
Completing the ground floor, a king-size zip-and-link (which can be made into a twin on request) bedroom has a tranquil feel; calming creams and whites create the best environment for a good night’s sleep. Wake up gently and read the morning paper on the reclaimed oak window seat that looks out over the orchard.
Upstairs, the galleried double bedroom is a relaxing haven. Slumber among neutral tones, wooden beams and rustic pine furniture or gaze out of the Velux window at the stars. Indulge in a soak in the corner bath in the en-suite bathroom, easing your aches and pains after a long hike around Almscliffe Crag or Riffa Wood (both 2 miles). Soft downlighting gives it a spa-like feel, so draw the blind on the Velux window and unwind in style, or flood the bathroom with light in the morning to invigorate you.
Outside, the south-facing patio is a lovely little sunspot that’s perfect for dining alfresco. Children will love running around in the shared walled garden where there is a climbing frame, swingball set and Connect4. Your four-legged friend has their own little hideaway with outdoor heated kennels, and there is lockable storage for your bikes so you can get out and explore the country lanes on two wheels.
